Use granules and spray on occasion, but for fun keep reading. After a good rain take about a cup or less of gas and oil and mix together. Then take a pipe like a fence pipe or a shovel handle and drive deep down in middle of mound and pull it out. Wait until the ants roll out and a lot will fall back into the hole. Now, pour mixture in hole and on top of mound while running a small line away from mound to light fire. You can light something throw on it from about 10 feet away if you feel more safe.

I use Bifen XTS and soak the mound with a sprayer. The fire ants come up and die instantly. Kills the whole mound and they don't move a few feet away and start again. Sprinkle about a tablespoon full on each mound just before a rain. They dead.
I can't stand a thief.

No opinions here, facts. We’ve used this stuff for years, if you completely cover your area with this stuff, overlapping so there’s no gaps. You will not have ants in that area for 2-3 months. I usually treat the mounds at the same time. Lowes and Walmart has it. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Spectracide-Triazicide-20-lbs/16630889

find a pest control company to treat the yard with top choice. it’s a restricted use product, great product. u will have ZERO fire ants for a year. any mounds that pop up around the perimeter won’t be there more than 2-3 days before they track the product back and kills them all.

Depends on the ants. Fire ants will not cohabitate with Argentine ants (the small black ones). You'll never see fire ants in a yard with them. I learned that more than a decade ago and it's true.

Permethrin is what I used on fire ant hills. Same as I use on mosquitos and roaches. On a cold morning, they will be up close to the top of the hill looking for warmth. Just poke a hole in the top and when they come boiling out spray them down good. They will die and when their buddies come to remove them, they die too. I have done a bunch this way and the hill dies. Thats what I do! I use Home Defense by Ortho. Catch them on a cool sunny morning and they are all in the top of the hill with their little white larvae. Rake the mound open and spray. You will kill thousands and the mound dies and it"s kind of satisfying to come back by in a few minutes and see the carnage.

Talstar P works good. I’ll spray the mound and then spray a 3ft ring around it. Dead mound.

We use to spray the outfields at the park with Taurus SC I believe. So the kids wouldn’t get bit.

Me, I used this same stuff, but I push a thin stick down in the mound in several places and spray way down in there, and spray around the mound and on it. It doesn't kill my bermuda nor bahia grass (unfortunately). They don't just move from one place to the other with this stuff.

This works really good and is affordable but it is to cold now to get the best results. It is a bait they take back to the mound. It’s best to broadcast it out. I just walk and shake a little out every few steps move over about 10 feet and come back. Every Mound I see I will shake some around it. There are some that the mounds are under ground so you need to spread it everywhere it just the mounds. Also make sure it’s not going to rain for about a day. You won’t see results for about a week or 2 then they disappear. It usually kills them off for spring and most of the summer sometimes I will start see them again late summer or early fall.
