It isn't for what kind of music but how you listen to music.
I got tired of XM running their soup coolers instead of just playing music. They are just as bad as a AM/FM station sometimes.

I signed up for Pandora, got me a veterans discount and can design my own channels. Downside is that you usually need a good cellular / WiFi connection.
That being said, it's cheaper than XM and I can filter out the BS.

Also I miss that station that was up around Guntersville maybe about 10 years or so ago. Catfish Country I think was their callsign. They played some good old country.
Another was 810 in Piedmont / Jacksonville.
Chattanooga had one too, maybe they still do.

Anyways, just wanted to put that out there as an option.

I swap between Pandora (the free version with occasional commercials) and Apple Music (MrsGomer signed up for it for like $10(ish) a month, and we can use it on all of our devices).

Pandora is good if you know what type of music you want to listen to, and just want it to shuffle through that and similar stuff. Apple Music is good if you want to listen to something specific (a specific artist/album/etc).

With Apple Music, you can also create playlists and download them to your device for listening when you don't have a signal

96.9 The Legend out of Dothan has all older country music. Great to listen to and you should be able to find.

I use the free I Heart radio app a lot and bluetooth to my car. I like to put in an artist I like and see what comes up "recommended" in the playlist.

I listen to a couple Pandora stations a lot. One is Red Dirt Country and the other is named Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer.

Pandora (free) a lot. When I am at my office, I will have youtube playing and once the algorithm understands what I have listened too it will populate playlists for me. I have found a bunch of great songs that way that I would have never found otherwise.
