I don't do the solar. Just a simple 12V feeder battery in a box and a cable. Strap it to a tree and forget about it for over a year.

Our club uses tactacam solar battery pac on our cell cameras. Nothing but good to say about them. Cabelas sells for $59.

I use the spypoint link micro solar. Hardly ever have to fool with them. Changing sd card once a year is about it.

That may be easier, huh: 8 AA batteries would give you 12V and ~2.5Amp-hrs $40 here is a 12v 18Ah battery = ~55 AA batteries. AmazonBattery box is ~$15 battery boxwires ~$3.5 tactacam connectorsDrill a hole in side for the wire + little silicone. That is cheaper than most solar set ups.

I've got one hooked to a lawn mower battery, but the solar are easier for me.

I hav a solar on my reveal without the big box - been going 8 months or so - no issues - just panel amd cord

I don't have any cell cameras, but 6 AA batteries will run the Browning cameras I have been using for the last few years. They last about 4 months in really high traffic areas and 6 to 9 months in lower traffic areas. I take 10 second videos with a 20 second delay.
This works well for me because we live here, and cards usually get changed every week. Since we are in and out regularly, the deer pay no attention. I have had mature bucks and does on camera within an hour or two of me changing cards or filling feeders, and the turkeys will just step into the woods while I am there, or just move to one of the other feeder locations.

Cell cameras are a totally different animal. They eat AA batteries in just a few weeks. You can get the cameras to last 2 months or so on lithium AA’s but lithiums cost $3+ a piece so it takes $50 in batteries to run one camera for half a season. The rechargeable packs are ok if you live local and can change them as needed without a lot of fuss. The solar packs are ok but fairly worthless in thick woods. I built 5 of those 12v boxes for $50 a piece and I charge them in August to full and never have to fool with them again except to move them or take them up after turkey season goes out. I used to run lithium AA’s until the prices went through the roof. The box is about $10 The battery is about $25 The cable and grommet is about $15-$16 from Herd360
