So I had an encounter with this deer in October and he smelled me when the wind shifted to where he was coming from. He shifted his range a little since then. I’m hunting a property that I just can’t get too very often, so I typically don’t have cameras there all season. I hung a couple cameras and got him on one of them the afternoon before I was planning on leaving. I had one more hunt left this morning. I figured I better hunt it simply because he came through several times from 3:30 pm yesterday until 2:45 am this morning. I got in early and settled in, and he came through about 6:40. I was able to draw when he walked behind a tree, held it a few seconds waiting on him to walk out from behind it, and when he did he was about 20 yards. I settled the pin and the rest is history.

Congrats, especially with a bow. Had an 8 walking fast at 250 + but that's not in my comfort zone. Maybe I can get him in closer and help you out a little bit.

I’m ducking hunting in the morning after the storm then going deer hunting in the afternoon. Actually that’s the plan next few days duck hunting morning and deer hunt pm. Hope to get one though bucks are out and moving. Had 4 members kill bucks in the past week and a half. Hope to get on the next few days.

Hopefully the cold gets them to move. I’m giving the ducks a break. So far only seeing knot heads. Small doe I didn’t want to shoot. Maybe tomorrow morning. I’m finally out there trying.
