In short range benchrest (mostly 6ppc) we used a very long drop tube and poured the powder slooo owly. to get 30+ grns in a case that most could only get 28 gns. I had a lot of neck tension and did not compress a whole lot. The neck tension kept the bullet from seating any deeper. Some sooters would use light neck tension and let the bolt finish seating the bullet with a lot of compression

Yep just don't try to extract that cartridge.lol
Benchrest guys load well into lands anyway.old school for sure

Yeah before seeking out a new cartridge if I see a lot 100+% compressed loads I go elsewhere but I don't shoot many magnum cartridges.300win mag and 300wsm and a few short cases that require slower powders
