Storm track looked very odd to me, got to looking, to the best of history on hurricanes this will be the 3rd storm to track from SW gulf to the east(present track) since the 1850’s that’s 174 years. Climate change is real 😀

Just returned from helping my son and dil. They lost almost everything in Bay Pines (St Petersburg) last week. Sewage everywhere, a pump station erupted. At least this may wash the shucks out
Wished he could leave for good, but he just got stationed at MacDill. Been there 5 months - 1 TS with water up to almost to the house, 1/hurricane with 4 foot of water in the house and now dead in the crosshairs of a CAT3
I told him he should have picked AK over FL. No hurricane season in AK, just moose season.

Its not uncommon at all. Opal would have pushed hard east if the front had come in just a few hours later and pushed it harder at the start. Late season storms tend to be fast forward movers cause the angle of the Earth has a harder right tilt causing more northward force in the winds.
