How many of ya'll ever been hit by lightning? One of my teachers in high school claimed to have been struck by lightning 4 times. Yesterday was the second time I was jolted. Worse than the first time. It come up a good storm so I went in the house, layed down and watched TV for a little bit. I got up, my right foot was touching the bed frame when I heard someone crack a whip right next to my head. Saw stars for a few seconds afterwards. My wife, who was in the living room, shouted that it hit the trampoline. I said bullsh!t it hit me! It fried the entire north wall wiring in the bedroom, and I had my tactacam battery charging on the night stand. Fried it too. I thought it had fried the AC too but it just tripped it. My leg is throbbing and tingling today. I walked all around the yard and inspected the house thoroughly but couldn't see any burn marks or anything where it hit outside.

Dang!!! Glad you’re ok.

Never been hit but been scared a few times. I have an optometry buddy who was on a dove field when a storm started to brew. Barely a cloud in the sky and lightening struck the field. Knocked him and his son out and killed a guy 100 yards from them. Lightening ain’t no joke.

I knew fella whose nickname was "Lighting". Not cause he was fast.
By the time this guy was about 35, 6 people had been killed by lightning while he was present. I almost got zapped once when we were talking outside in a parking lot and we were just coming and going to our cars.
That dude was a human lightning rod.

He's dead now.

He drank too much.

Got knocked to my knees once running to get in the house when lighting struck a pine right next to my patio. Later that evening I kept smelling something burnt. The ball on top of my white cap I had been wearing was burnt. Don’t know if that saved my live or put me that much closer to death. Ever since then I don’t play with lightning. A young man and woman hitch hiking around the same time were blown out of their shoes seeking shelter under a big oak where my grandparents lived in emelle. Lightning doesn’t play

Crazy. I kept smelling something burnt yesterday too but never could find it. I put a fire extinguisher in there and a few extra smoke alarms.

Glad everything is ok. I've never been hit, but have had a few things in the house fried because of lightening.

A buddy’s mother-in-law has been hit twice. 2nd was worse than the first. After the second, she can’t wear a watch on her left wrist, because the battery dies within a day or 2! Weird….

I just finished installing a GPS antenna on a building and was terminating the inside portion of the cable with a coworker. We stood up to stretch our backs when a ball of fire hit between us and rolled into the next room. It appeared to be 3 or 4 ft in diameter. The guy we were working for just had told us that there was a storm and that they were bad lighting prone. I told him that was just a little cloud. After checking my pants, I told him that I would listen to him next time.

Watch all your wiring and appliances. Lightning does strange things when it gets in a house. You'll probably have stuff that you think is good, randomly going out for the next 3-6 months or so. That's what happened to mine and I had my electrician come out and we tested every circuit the day of the strike. Knew exactly what it killed the day of the strike but two weeks later, the doorbell and the front porch light weren't working. Roughly a month after that, the wall panel garage door opener for one side wasnt working. Car remotes were and still are fine. Had all the under counter lighting in the kitchen and a hall light on the opposite side of the house quit working about a month after the garage door panel. Electrician had already told me to not be surprised/expect that to happen.

Indirectly - we were building a dog house in the laundry room and I had placed the ratchet on the dryer. Lightning struck VERY close outside the house at the exact moment I grabbed the ratchet. I suspect the electricity passed through the house ground, to the chassis of the dryer, ratchet and ultimately to me. For a few moments - I lost controled use of my right arm and hand (which completely freaked my son out) and my fingers were pointing in unnatural directions.

After about 30-minutes - my arm and hand were good, but the pain was excruciating (felt like someone had shot me in the elbow) during that time.

Yep that's pretty much what I experienced also.

Ran across a parking lot standing in water when lightning hit a power pole 75-80 yds away
I was just about to touch the door handle on my truck when fire went from my hand to the door handle
I almost passed out and tasted metal for hours after

I was struck when I was 14. Standing under the carport shooting arras into a target with my cousin. Thunder and lightning popping everywhere. His parents weren't home. We both shot, it was my turn to go get the arras so I ran like crazy across the year, pulled the arras out and was running back when lightning struck the VHF antenna, went to the AC, and hit the arras. I was about 5 foot from it. Knocked me down. I got up and walked to the carport. My cousin was freaking out. He ran I to call 911 but I stopped him because daddy would have beat my tail. We weren't supposed to be shooting our bows with his parents gone. I lived two doors down and walked home. Told my mom I didn't feel good and went to bed. Couldn't hardly walk the next day. It blew some holes in my tennis shoes. I didn't tell my parents until I was about 30 lol

No but close. I was standing on the back porch watching a storm roll in one afternoon when lightening struck a tree in the pasture about 75 yards away. Knocked me flat on my arse, blew the electric fence charger all to pieces, fried every fluorescent light ballast in the house and killed one of my best cows. Tree roots were blown out for 50 yards or so around that tree.
