That was the way to get adjustable chokes back in the day before barrels were threaded for them. Probably no way to tell who engraved it but it isn't factory.

"Why do you ask"?
Too many people spend money they don't have , on things they don't need, to impress people they don't know.

Folks ordered Model 12's from the factory with a Simmons Rib and a Cutts Compensator installed.....BACK in th' Day. Cutts is a muzzle Brake and they work....just a Shove and not a Shoulder Jarring JAB!! Got one..... You could also send your barrel to Simmons and they would install there Rib with a Cutts or a Poly-Choke.

As a featherweight, I bet it kicks like a mule. That recoil pad serves a valuable purpose.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Nice looking gun. Looks like somebody jammed a duck call on the barrel.

I've prolly owned 50 Model 12s from Black Diamonds, to Featherweights to 410s(model 42) and every gauge made. Any other tidbits of history ya think I need to know???

I too, may get cussed at, but thats ok. I have a Rem 11-48 and mod 58 with Cutts comp barrels. I have at least 3 cutts barrels for each. Over many years, I was able to come across the extra barrels. I traded an original barrel from each for 2 of the barrels. I was hoping to come across other guns to put those barrels on. They do add a little weight to the front but they pattern better than anything else. Im gonna get a cussin for this too but they do reduce recoil some. I think my guns are worth more than the original and have been offered a good amount for the barrels,
