I usually wear rubber boots turkey hunting. I hunt areas that can experience some high water at times. I use to own a pair of Irish setter snake boots that were about 16” high - lace up. They were comfortable but not water proof in the least. The sole separated from the base of the shoe after year two. For those of you that have purchased snake boots, what do you recommend? I like the idea of the turtle skins, just not sure how I would go about the water- probably have to find alternate paths. I’ve had a couple run ins lately that have made me think about it. I’m not trying to spend $400 on a pair of boots. What say you?

Had the same Irish setters. I switched to lacrosse alpha agility snake boots (dark brown) and have no issues and they are def water proof

Never wear snake boots. I used too but I have large calves and could never get a good fit. I dont worry about snakes too much. Just try to pay attention where Im stepping and sure look good before i plop down on the ground.

I’ve had great luck with Danner pronghorns. They’re in pretty rough shape now but I’ve been wearing them for the last 9 seasons. The side zipper bit the dust long ago but I just wrap my laces around the boot before I tie them.

The last pair i bought were Lacrosse Venoms. They aren’t bad and definitely are waterproof. I wear keen hiking boots most of the time.

I got a pair of dryshod. Haven’t put them to use yet but very comfortable, fit my big calves and appear very good quality.

I wear Irish Setters Vaper trek for my upland hunts. Been wearing the same pair for about 4 years(bow and turkey hunting). I wear Lacrosse rubber snake boots for my wet areas. I find them both to be very comfortable.
I bought a pair of the Turtle Skin gaiters and hate that they don’t have stirrups. That was a big fail on their part. I hope they correct this in the future.

Lacrosse Grange boots were what I was wearing when hit by a five foot Timber Rattler. One fang went thru boot and tucked in pants and penetrated meat on my left calf.
now I wear leather Bullhide boots by Gokey.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I wear Twisted X 17" Snake Boots. They have both slip-on and zip up. Got them at Sikes & Kohns.
Super comfortable -- love wearing them. And waterproof up to the holes used to pull them on.
