Roadkill - I am sorry to read that you guys are forced to transition from your dream.
Inflation has really killed so many American Dreams, it breaks my heart to see small business owners struggle with staying in business by either or hiking their prices to the point of not being competitive with the national chains or reducing their margins to the point to delaying the inevitable.

This is exactly what has happened. It will be another year but we see it coming. She owns the building, ect, no bills except the basics. Has been doing it for 30 years. Age was going to eventually win - always does. But the inflation has slammed the reality of the increases in costs that cannot be passed on to the customer. Thanks for the kind words.

Hate to read this but I've been watching the whole restaurant industry struggle post covid. Revenue has remained stagnant the last 2 years while cost are on a steady climb. I've seen several just cut corners and go to cheaper ingredients but i imagine your wife wants to continue putting out quality rather than compromise. Hope yall can get it figured out.

Sorry to read about this. It's not the same & not a fix, but she might consider selling at the local farmer's market or selling on FB & offering porch pick-up. Several women sell baked goods at my local market & seem to do well

Let the restaraunts and maybe one day the service businesses suffer, I believe a lot of this inflation is due to the fact many businesses have found they can pretty much charge whatever the hell they want. Sure costs are up but they have not doubled the pay of their workers nor have ingredients doubled but the prices sure have. I made the mistake of hiring a lawn service to replace about 20 feet of irrigation line and two sprinkler heads because I was dealing with a health issue and based on the bill I got they must have been paying must be their trench digging help $150/hour. I could have done the job in an hour and got a bill for $400 bucks. Shoulda got a quote but it never occurred to me for such a simple job.

I believe a lot of this inflation is due to the fact many businesses have found they can pretty much charge whatever the hell they want. NO!NO!NO! Inflation is caused by one thing and one thing only and that is the constant printing of more money. There is no other explanation, that is how it works, its that damn simple. It pisses me off when people try to blame inflation on anything but that very simple fact. Our government can force the Fed to print as much money as they want, and when inflation gets bad the Fed raises interest rates to pull excess money out of the system. Thats how it works. Its a stupid system but its the system we got.

I could have done the job in an hour and got a bill for $400 bucks. Shoulda got a quote but it never occurred to me for such a simple job. Most businesses are not charging what they want...they look at their costs and add their increase to their price to make a profit. EVERYTHING has gone up!! Fuel, rent, taxes, insurance, wages, repair costs, equipment costs, disposable costs etc............ When they raise their prices they know they have to do so to stay in business or they will lose money. Competition usually keeps them "honest" in their price increases. And supply/demand will also affect how much they can and do charge. If they are booked for weeks to months then their prices go up, if they are not busy their prices come down or if prices get to low they can't make a profit they close because folks won't pay the higher prices or just do without. This is where we are headed now, folks just stop spending or defer unless they have to for necessary things.

There is no inflation, the economy is the best ever, and Bidenomics has saved the US. Joe Biden said so himself, so y'all quit talking bad about your president and just get with the program and start believing exactly what you are told.

Baby formula is $52 a can…an we buyin like 4 cans a month…that aint countin diapers an other stuff🤬 No joke. Mine are 10 and 7, but we just started being foster parents last February. We were given a newborn baby and I was shocked at the cost of formula and the rest since mine were little. Fortunately we get Wic, but it doesn't cover all the formula we use for a month. We may have to come out of pocket a little, but I sure am glad we don't have to pay for every single bit of it because we might struggle.
