might be a long shot, but looking to trade my 629 6" for the same model in 4"
gun is like new, fired roughly 50-75 rounds. comes with factory box, manual etc.

That would be a tough decision to make.I’ve got a 4 inch 629 ,not a classic. Always wished I had got a 5 inch classic.

I do love the 6" for general packing and range work, but I'm going to Alaska next summer for archery caribou and I would prefer the shorter and lighter model. maybe I misspoke on the model, I was thinking the classic was the partial underlug, but it appears that refers to the full underlug model. mine is the 6" with half underlug (dirty Harry configuration but in stainless)

I've carried the 4" L-frame as a go-to in the woods for 5 years of so now. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Good luck

Wise idea. The 4" is what I take to Ak and it packs a lot easier than a 6". I carry mine is a nylon Uncle Mikes holster with a retaining strap and a separate nylon belt. It has been soaking wet several times and dried out by hanging in the cabin close-but not too close- to the wood stove. Lots of bears around the fishing spots I went to but thankfully, I never had to use it. A tip for you: those impressive looking jacketed hollow point 240 gr bullets might be honkey dorey for whitetails but if you have to use it on an alaska sized bear, it needs to be a cast flat noses (think SWC) of around 270 grs. The hardness should be about 12-13 Brinnell Hardness. Too hard and they might shatter on bone. Good luck on your trip, do you have a guide? Apologize for the hijack.
