I'm tired of wearing turkey boots! Hunting in the south with the heat and wet locations they always leak! You spend 100's of dollars on a called good pair with same results hurting wet feet! What kind of snake gaiters are working for yall? Are they really snake proof without wearing the stiff armored ones?

I wear my Mucks if it's wet outside, and wear tennis shoe boot hybrids when it's dry. I am way more worried about damage to my feet from uncomfortable boots than I am about a snake. Plantar fasciitis is a real thing to be concerned about. If I die from a snakebite, I figure it was just my time.

I haven't posted it in a while, but I ain't skeered of no snake. Leave the snake alone and he will almost always leave you alone. The few people who die from snakebite each year were usually messing with the snake.

Plantar fasciitis will ruin your turkey season. Believe me, I know!

I wear turtle skins. Light weight and flexible. I got mine , contacted Glenda Green and sent them to her. She covered them in original bottomland camo and put Velcro on them. I can now use the zipper or simply Velcro them up back of leg. I have used them 3 years. They go on or off in about 20 seconds. I love them and could not be more pleased. Been through plenty of things that will stick you and tear you up with absolutely no issues. Don’t know if they are snake proof because I haven’t been struck thank God. Would recommend them 100 percent with the alterations. Good luck.

What is a turkey boot?

question....almost every pair of snake gaiters I see protect the calf/ankle, but not the top/sides of the foot itself. That's been my biggest hangup on using them. Is there some statistic that says snakes won't bite a foot, but rather up the leg? Just seems like that would be a major disadvantage of the gaiters...

I pulled 7 miles yesterday before noon in my Chippewa lace ups, according to the onx tracker. It wasn’t too bad, but I was ready for to sit for a bit by noon.

Below is why you wear snake boots, I nearly stepped on him getting to the rock on the right to sit and listen a while.
I have a pair of Lacrosse Alpha Lites I wear early season , very light and comfortable . But when it warms up I'll have on snake boots. I have a pair of the old Danner lace ups , they too are light and comfortable , but have been discontinued .

I never worried about snakes till I traveled to TX/OK and decided I need to try some snake boots. I bought the waterproof chippewahs and they were great, but after a few years they seemed to be slippery everywhere I walked especially climbing hillls. I went to Crispi with gaiters and was happy for a few years, but even those are no longer waterproof. This year I tried the superlite boots and they feel great. They are made just like crocs, so they are completely waterproof annd incredibly lightweight. Only 2 issues is that material isn’t gonna tolerate a bunch of briars and like any rubber boots, my feet still sweat.

Crispis and gaiters. I use the cheap plastic kind, haven't bought those turtle skins yet. I walk through too much tall grass and viney crap where I can't see where I'm stepping to risk going without. But I am also not going to hike 5 miles in snake boots, a man has a limit to discomfort. Crispis are worth the investment..you might save a hundred dollars or 50 buying Danner but they'll leak within 6 months. Going on year 3 with my Crispis and they are just now showing signs of letting water through. But that's after walking in a creek type stuff. Stay totally dry otherwise

I guess everyone's heard the one about a snake getting through the stitch hole on a snake boot salesman. Quality leather boots are said stop a rattler bite. When I feel the need, which is never while turkey hunting, I wear snake chaps and leather boots.

I've been wearing Crispi boots I just got to break them. I'll probably go back to Merrell Ventilators soon. It's not like I'll melt if my feet get wet. When I used to hunt swamps I wore jungle boots 'cause staying dry meant waders.

It was not bad . I think covered , Velcroed and shipped back was around 70 bucks. I had them back in a week.

As far as gaiters go, Turtle Skins is definitely the one to go with. One of my buddies has them and my next pair will be Turtle Skins.

My lacrosse snake boot very comfortable and very easy to pull on and off - prob got them 1/2 size to big on accident - but they slip right off

I hav owned several snake boots that i absolutely hated - lacrosse is not one of them

I bought a pair of rattlers brand snake gaiters a few years ago and I wear em all the time. They are hot but extremely tough and you can walk right through briars and not get snagged.

I bought a pair of danner sharp tails snake boots last season wore em 4 times thinking about selling them to buy a lace up more hiking boot most likely the crispi. Plantar facaitist really got my feet jacked up

What’s up with these crispi boots? Look like old timberlands but cost $350 to $400. Good lord y’all got some money to blow.
