I saw hallb's post and it got me to thinking about it. Mine is my Granddaddy's Browning Auto 5 Light 12 vent Belgium made. With my grandmothers social security number that she scrolled/horribly etched into the metal behind the trigger.
She thought that her social security number would get the shotgun back to her if it ever got stolen. It was different times, but not that different. That shotgun means more to me because of her social security number. It would be an 8 out of 10 if it were not for that. I'll take the that!

No safe queens. I use every purdy rifle i own.....

My dad did the same thing with a .22 rifle. Probably not much identity theft back then.

None they are all guns.

None are safe queens but I have a couple that get handled with kid gloves. Two were custom guns made for my father by a man named Graham Bostick who was a friend of my father.

One is a 35 Whelen AI built on an Interarms Mark X action with a beautiful fiddleback walnut stock.

The other is a 300 Winchester Magnum built on a 1948 M70 Winchester action. The wood is an incredible feather crotch walnut that is as sleek and slim as I've ever handled. You can't get a stock that fits like this on any factory rifle. My father took this gun on an African safari and it was a special moment for me when I shot a deer with it several years after he died.

Hard for me. Nicest gun I own is a Beretta Silver Pigeon 20ga I won, would have never bought it. Most sentimental is an early 80s BAR 270 my uncle owned and I got back a couple of owners later. He killed a pile of deer with it over the years before selling it to a gentlemanl who passed a few years ago, who I was also close to. Got a custom Model 7 LSS the same uncle gave me that I cherish. As well as a 1963 Marlin 336RC he gave me when I graduated school. A 1944 Remington Rand 1911 I got from the original owners family. So many pieces that mean so much, and the stories of how I acquired them. That’s my biggest problem, each and every firearm I own means something special to me and I can’t let them go.

I've always looked at a gun as no different than an expensive hammer. Just a tool. I guess that's why I don't own as many as some of my closest friends.

However, the reworking of my grandfathers 16 ga recently has changed my opinion a little. If all the others burned in a fire, the only one I'd shed a tear over is the 16 guage.

Never been on that one hb. I dont shoot any of them equally but would never own one I did not use much because of its looks. I would sell it if I did not use it

I have a bunch that were my Dads that have never been shot. Probably the most interesting one is a Ducks unlimited 40 year anniversary Ithaca 12ga. It is extremely ornate and has a very dark walnut stock. I also have some browning bolt actions that have never been shot and a collection of colt 1911’s. An olympic gold cup and a combat commander but those have been shot.

I don’t have any I don’t shoot because they’re too pretty, it’s because I just don’t have enough time to go shoot them all!!

I don t collect guns . Guns are for tools . Never spent over $600 on a gun. Never bought from dealer. Always private sale. Don t care if pretty or not . Shotguns for squirrels and doves. 22 for varmits a squirrels. 22 magnum for hogs an varmits . Deer rifle for deer an hogs. Pistols for protection an varmits . Keep my guns clean and one in almost every room of house and shop an every vehicle . I have all I need except would like have a long Tom. 12 gauge with 36” barrel

I have several that only get a few rounds down the pipe every few years. Too many to “hunt” with regularly and I no longer enjoy wasting expensive and often hard to find ammunition just to hear it go “bang.” There are several sitting in the safe simply to be handed out in an emergency(sights are true and they come with a battle pack)
The only one I treat with respect is my dad’s 70’s era Weatherby. The wood is still about 98% on that one. I’m hesitant to take it up a tree.
