I'm going with my paw in law this weekend. Probably put in at Allreds. Anybody have a pattern?

Traps and jerkbaits 2-6ft.With the weather warming up it should be great.

Yep ... traps, jerkbaits, swimming a jig, maybe even throwing a swimbait slowly around docks if the water's real clear.

With the first three I'd make 'em orange-craw-red to start and see how that turns out.

The fishing on Smith is good if you know how to do it.. Light tackle and baits...

Whatever do, stick with the helment wearing goobers in the fast boats. Do what they do. Pay no attention to the rest of us. Be sure to zoom by us as close to where we are fishing. We love that. We are just trolling around doing a little crappie fishing. We don't really mean to be in the way. But it seems we are. again don't pay any attention to us. We only get a couple of hours a week on the water. We realize the tourney guys own the water and the ramps. I'd like to thank them for being allowed to use them when they are finished with them. If you get a chance drive right up to us (where we are casting) and ask us are we fishing a tourny or just for fun. Then gas it when you leave. We love that...

I hope you aren't one of those guys that puts jugs in the middle of the channel. I'm guessing you don't.

They are bad on Shoals Creek over here. Channel is real narrow and they'll string jugs all the way across the channel. Those are the ones that get lost. I'll avoid any backwater jugs or those in wide channels.

Every bass boat I have ever encountered on the water at Guntersville thought they were KVD fishing the Bassmaster's Classic. By far, the rudest lake in the state. No question. Can't tell you how many times I have been cut off, run near, and fished on.

You guys remember the Cheeseburger post about the OCPH. (i think thats right) Orange Clad Pecker Heads.

Well I have the HWPH's. (Helmet wearing pecker heads). It happened again this afternoon. Got a chance to slip off early from work and do a little fishing. One boat in the area I was in. They were crappie fishing as well and with the wind had thrown out a marker. I swung left of them. I caught 3 nice ones pretty quick and dropped a marker. Probably 40 - 60 yards from them. Both of us were pretty much circling our markers. When the HWPH's showed up. Slinging the idiot baits (rattle traps). No problem.. I was hoping they caught all they wanted. But when they started to leave. The started up their 500hp Megamax and ran right between our markers. Couple of real richard whisky's.

The OCPH are irritating, but I really hate the WBPH (wake board pecker heads) They go to the back of all the creeks to get away from the traffic, fill up their water bladders, and drive back and forth creating constant 4 foot waves.
I can't tell you how many I have seen tear up their boats driving outside the channel markers and into stump fields and shallow road beds, some have no business driving a boat.

Met some HWPHs this morning. A buddy and I crappie fished under a bridge from daylight until about 10 AM. Out of about 250 bassers, only 5 or 6 actually got off plane far enough out that they didn't push a wave plum out on the bank. What part of No Wake, Idle Speed Only do they not understand? CD.

Would be easy for them to sit on the "up" side of the bridge where the boats can't see them until they come through and then have a chat.

That's not just inconsiderate for you but it's dangerous for the boat drivers. Ideal IMO would be to have a "no wake, idle only" buffer zone of about 30 yards on either side of the bridge. No wake. Period. Come off plane ahead of time and not right when you get to the buoy marking the zone.

About 7-8 years ago a guy tied up under a bridge on Lake Fork was fishing and was found dead. Officials believe his head was slammed against the concrete bridge above him when a boat came through and the wake rocked his boat.

Your right Clem, it wouldn't take but a couple of tournament fisherman being DQ'd to settle them down.

No, they would whine about the Marine Police stopping them during the tourneyment when they're trying to beat Bobby Jack to the blowed-down tree to catch that big'un!
