Well dang…….hate y’all didn’t get him….that’s the chit happens variable coming into play. We tracked one shot in the intestines with a bow a couple years ago that went 800 yards to a pine thicket. We jumped him there but he was really lively and wouldn’t even attempt to bay. The hunter came back a week later and found him dead 20 yards from where we jumped him. The hunter said it looked like he had only been dead a day or so.
Keep an eye out for buzzards if you’re gonna be in that area hunting. He’ll eventually die and you never know where that might be.

Anyone know a guy that would allegedly weld some pipes together? Those cats are too dang expensive. Not that I would know anything about it, but while you're "allegedly" welding pipes together, you might want be sure to tack a nut onto the pipes and thread them so that you can remount your O2 sensors, otherwise your check engine light will stay on all the time.

Just depends on the vehicle. I've had it work fine on one and it threw the codes on the other as soon as I cranked it. Just a good thing to do, in general, if they had cut the sensors off too. In your case, you've got to just patch it up and see what it does. Too much computerized crap on all these trucks today anyway. Good luck with it brother and sorry it happened to you.

Hunt public land most of the time here and I often put a cam on my truck. We had a rash of gas tanks getting drilled out and rigs getting keyed.

Nature of the beast with a bow, regardless of what many Pharisee full-time bow-toters claim about their own percentages of successful shots, their shot selection perfection, blah, blah. A bow always has been and always will simply be a far less reliable and less humane weapon than other choices. And chit happens accordingly (especially in the public woods of Alabama versus say Iowa or wherever), even if the hunter does indeed do everything right. Period. All you can do is not beat yourself up too bad, get back in the saddle, and ride again. Here’s hoping you 10-ring the next one!

I’m really confident I’ll get it done with the longbow this year. The deer are starting to chase and I’ve seen a lot of bucks lately. I’d still be a happy with a doe but I haven’t had a good shot opportunity yet.

Jughead is correct. Deer move faster than a 300 ft per second (or slower) arrow sometimes. Many other factors come into play with every shot. A bow hunter with the BEST intentions has a high likelihood of losing a deer given enough shot opportunities. Hunt on, or quit, but if you bow hunt long enough marginal outcomes will happen.
