It’s been making a noise like the bearing was going out and finally broke today. The drum is sitting real low in the back would that be a bearing or that shock? I’m thinking bearing because of the noise. Anybody have any experience?

Congratulations. Now go buy one that's a top loader with an agitator. I was so thankful that ours finally died. My clothes were never truly clean.

It’s the bearing. Same thing happened to the only front loader we’ve ever owned. Won’t get another one.

My top loader is acting up. Likes to go back and forth between wash and rinse. But not all the time......
And yes a front loader sucks!

Went back to top loader after front loader croaked. Had it about 2yrs (top of the line Maytag) and just donated it and bought a Speed Queen with the old school analogue dials and an agitator. Most digital ones lock the top, can’t control water depth for soaking and something else my wife didn’t like about it. Clothes come out cleaner and don’t take nearly as long to complete a wash.
experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

When my wife and I got married she mentioned a front load candy apple red washing machine. I told her that my washing machine and dryer came off Facebook marketplace used for $200, and when those broke, I’d buy another used top load set. If I wanted to spend stupid money on a clothes washer, I’d buy her a new set of boobs.

We literally gave away a fully functioning front load Whirlpool washer and dryer because I was tired of my wife complaining about the smell and having to replace the rubber front seal. Went with an old school top load Speed Queen set and never looked back.

I've told the wife to quit bitching about the front loaders and go buy what she wants. She just wants to bitch. She got the dryer fixed again a few weeks ago. It's going on 15 years, so I figure the whole set is going to go to the unrepairable status soon.

The newer top loaders arent all great either. We got rid of our newer top loader and bought an older maytag off facebook for $100. Should have done that sooner. Dang feds and their water regulations.

maytag has a 10yr warrenty on the bearing. I like front load because it puts less water in the septic tank and saves on drying some too. I also don't miss the top loaders banging against the wall because the clothes aren't balanced.

I ordered a new one today so I can stack ‘‘em back up. No telling how many thousands of loads of laundry we’ve done in these so I’m not terribly disappointed, the boys are off to college this fall so my laundry should decrease dramatically. Thanks for the replies guys.
