I'm thinking it is time to own a pool table. Anyone got any warnings or recommendations? I'm looking at used initially. Just figured I'd ask. It's the reason I didn't graduate from UoA way back when. We had a table in our dorm.

I grew up with them, and at one time was better than good (made some pretty good money playing at bars: specifically 3-ball or 9-ball). My uncle would put the money up and I played as a 16-18 year old). Stating the obvious - they take a lot of space, but if space is not a concern.
Spend the money - Leather pockets, slate bed, good quality felt is key, and high quality rails/bumpers/cushions. You will want a very solid surface, so the table is perfectly level. A good rack for the cue sticks, so they don't warp. Place the table - centered to the lighting, off-centered lighting will ruin the game.

I got a 7 foot Dynamo coin op bar box. Love it, like JB said they are awesome. Very durable and don’t take up as much room.

I grew up with a nice Brunswick table maybe 20 feet from my bed...played a LOT of pool. Good times
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Buy a good table (level it) and for the love of God, buy some decent sticks.

Simonis cloth, good tips on straight cues, and a level table dramatically improve play and enjoyment.

As all said above for sure. Be sure to have room an all sides. Cue ball hugging the rail can make for a tight shot if the wall is close.

Slate all the way. Will cost more but will make a difference, especially over time.

If you can make a long shot on a 9' table with tight pockets, you'll clear a room quick shooting on a 7' bar table

If you can make a long shot on a 9' table with tight pockets, you'll clear a room quick shooting on a 7' bar table II used to practice on a snooker table and used regular size pool balls. That sure will make you shoot straight.

I found a used 8' Brunswick with 3 piece slate top in decent shape for $650. Pretty sure I'm pulling the trigger. Moving it should be fun.

Worst part of owning a pool table is moving that SOB
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??
