It's been going on for a couple weeks based on the pics I've seen. Some studs have hit the ground for a couple guys I know that hunt a small bow only property there at Chelsea. A legit 151 (clean 10) and a 144 (11 pt). The 10 was killed Dec 9th and the 11 on Dec 14th. Same little piece of property and both were 5-10 min behind does. Guys say it has slacked off a ton since then, on the mature buck sightings.

I am now hunting down 47 toward Columbiana and haven’t seen much activity as of yet. Had two different bucks visit a scrape two nights in a row so maybe they are about to get more frisky

Yeah I haven't seen much around my area either. Usually by now scraps and rubs are everywhere.

Lots of scrapes and rubs last 5 days or so. Running tracks in the roads. Small bucks bumping does.

Sunday-Wed next week should be lights out.

It starts getting good week after Xmas. Once you start seeing scrapes and rubs, it's on.

Not real familiar with the area but my in laws have a small tract close to Wilsonville. I was thinking about going down weekend of 1/7, will it be too late?

Looks like the bucks may be getting ready, but does not having it. Had a series of pics last night. 3 does on plot at 7:26. 7:28 plot empty. 7:29 buck enters field. Stays in field till 7:42. 7:43 doe back in field looking where he exited field. Does go back to feeding till about 7:54 when two small bucks enter field. Bucks hung around and fed but does didn’t come back

Shelby county near Bibb along cahaba has earlier rut than other areas of Shelby. Starts around Christmas and continues into early January.

I've seen several chasing across the hwy 43 between Vandiver and 280 on the way to work this week. Saw a really nice buck this morning
I have property about 1/2 mile from Shelby on the Pell City side and haven't seen anything but scrapes and small bucks pushing. I figure it will bust wide open the first of next week

I believe does are in second cycle Helena area. Saw chasing around 12/8-12/10. Have seen 4 bucks last 2 days with does. 2 of them actively chasing, grunting and being completely oblivious to anything around them other than the doe.

Would be right on time.
