How has the rutting activity been looking in and around the Hollins WMA area? Coming in Sunday evening for my yearly week long hunt at my old stomping grounds.

No deer left. State trapped all deer and killed them due to EHD disease. Restocking efforts will begin this summer.

Lighten up, just joking. I live in Sylacauga which is 5 minutes away. I hunt Hollins weekly. Deer around here started chasing hard about 2 weeks ago during the previous cold snap. Last week it warmed back up and chasing and rutting activity slowed down. This cold snap should get the bucks moving good. Hollins rut is usually right around Martin Luther King day. That being said, this weekend and next week should be very good. I will be hunting next weeks gun hunt pretty hard. If you see a white z71 tahoe, thats me.

I shot a big deer last Saturday there but couldn't find it. It was cahsing along with 2 other small bucks about 5 minutes after I shot. That doe must have been good stuff.

Sorry about that. Very bad today with work. This next week at Hollins is definitely needed.

I plan on getting there Sunday afternoon and bow hunt Monday and then gun hunt through Thursday. Hopefully I will get lucky and come across a big one that's trying to get lucky himself. I was born and raised in Alex City, so have hunted Hollins a good bit, but not as much as I want now that I live in GA.

I will probably spend Sunday and Monday scouting for the rest of the week.

I haven't been over there in about 3 weeks. I took my 7 year old squirrel hunting during the week and I saw a bunch of scrapes. We jumped a big 8 late one afternoon. I imagine they should be full blast right about now.

I'd be glad to email a pic to someone if they could post it.Yall may not believe my story, but 10 bucks were chasing 2 does, and the 9 point was the 4th buck.A 6 point was leading the pack, the rest were spikes and 4's.I'd never seen anything like it.I shot the 9 at 20 yards running wide open after yelling at him numerous times trying to get him to stop.Wish I had a cameraman that day.
