I drink power aid instead of Gatorade because Gatorade leaves my mouth sticky and me more thirsty. I feel like poweraids have more salt and Gatorade has more sugar. Poweraids seem to get me back to normal better than anything else. Alot of times i do water them down. Seems like the more i sweat the sweeter they get. At some point i just switch to water. Im gona try the body armors and the other drinks yall have recommended. . I guess what most of yall are getting at is the way to fight the dehydration is to not get there in the first place.

I haven't had a bath in 30 years. Maybe jacquizz when I'm sore. Long hot shower for me. Took 3 today.

Yes, if you get thirsty, it is too late. You are already dehydrated

I used to jump in the river or the pool after a long hard day. That did seem to help

I just looked at a couple of comparisons on Gator and Power aids. Ones I saw said Gator has more salt , potassium and electrolytes . Power beats Gator on vitamins. Stop changing shirts. Let the sweat do what it’s supposed to do… cool you off. Not an expert, but hanging iron since 2000 in long sleeves. I don’t change clothes until I take a shower.
Note: deodorant and body powder is your friend.

I don’t know what you eat for breakfast, I don’t like a whole lot of grease early. Or pancake syrup. I’m a firm believer that it can make a difference if you eat some fruit for breakfast, or on break, and throughout the drinking process. Natural electrolytes.

I wore one of those quick dries today while i was bushhogging. It might have helped a little. If i didnt ever change shirts, i would be soaked down to my knees. I usually come home at lunch and put on dry underwear and shorts. Today i put on one of those dry fast shirts, it did seem to keep me a little dryer

pedialyte, it's what they give you in the hospital if you have a heat stroke, drink it before you have one..

Sugar free sports drinks hydrate me better than the regular versions. You’ve got to get ahead in order to stave off dehydration. Once the sweating starts it’s almost impossible to catch up. I played a 3 day golf tournament this weekend and the index was 110 just about the entire time. I had downed 60 ounces of water and coconut body armor before I even teed off then pounded the water during and felt fine every day. I even came home and push mowed the lawn yesterday after my round. Don’t get me wrong I was HOT but I never once felt dehydrated.
I also try and drink 40 ounces of water EVERY evening this time of year. 60 keeps me up peeing but 40-50 doesn’t. Adjust how much you drink in the evenings until you find a happy medium.

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

Dry clothes is defeating the purpose of sweat. We’re all soaked before the pre-work safety meeting is over and I’d guess nobody is drinking near as much water/Gatorade/pedialyte as being talked about here. Only time we hear of problems is after a late night partying with the wrong hydration. Pickles/pickle juice seems to be popular in the hot months too.

Wanna know how old timers kept cool in the fields all day? They wore a hat and a long sleeve cotton shirt and they carried a jug of water. Maw would bring lunch and a refill on the water. The long sleeve cotton shirt shielded them from the suns rays and also held the sweat, for a while at least. The slightest breeze felt like air conditioning. As far as I know they mainly drank water. The sweet tea was for sitting on the porch back at home after their day was over or on Sundays after church. Gatorade, Powerade, etc. is great (and I drink it) but probably not necessary. I'm fairly certain that Paw Paw never tasted it.

Note: deodorant and body powder is your friend. My Grandaddy worked for the Southern RR, I never saw him in a short sleeved shirt. It musta smelled pretty rough in those camp cars after a day in the blazing sun! I always carry a dry shirt and put it on at the end of the day when I get in the truck. I eat a lot of Nanners during Summer, seems to help.

Some of the industrial supply / safety stores or catalogues may have individually packaged electrolyte tablets that may help. All of the sports drinks help and I will also add that cold watermelon at the end of the day will help you get out of a bad heat funk.
