GM 8 speed transmissions SUCK. I’m 20k miles in on the 10 speed and it seems night and day difference. I have 2850 miles on my new 2021 and I agree the 10 speed transmission is way better than the 8spd. Are 10 speed transmissions now in the 5.3 1500? 5.3 used to come with 8-speed only and 6.2 liter came with the 10-speed

The 20 has the 10 speed. It gets better fuel economy and better low end get up and go. Yes it’s a 5.3

CatHead, price with a number of options including AC was about $33K. Rebuilt trans, used v8, new suspension, all body repair in metal, new fuel tank, new lines, wiring, glass, gaskets and your choice of color.

Cars use to be total pieces of junk. Then they started making better products and giving warranties out to 100,000 miles to entice buyers to purchase their products vs. the competition. I think that was a good thing for the Consumer.
They don't give you a warranty any longer in 2021 you have to purchase it. There is no incentive. We are headed back to 1985 where it was common at 50,000 to have to put a transmission in a truck and people didn't want to own anything with over 100,000 on it because of the repairs. Only this time it's pretty hard to fix a car yourself today they are too complicated to work on.
Buy stock in Toyota and Nissan, etc. We are headed back. GM is a dumpster fire right now. Ford might follow suit I hope not. If you drive anything made by Chrysler expect no change you already own a POS. I think the only company still offering a 10yr 100k mile warranty is Kia. I would’ve never considered them for a car/suv 3+ years ago, but they have a good offering that is in line with the explorer and Acadia. An actually V6 with 8 speed transmission, 100k power train warranty, and a new vehicle with 5 miles on it is the same price as a used explorer with 75K miles on it.

Lockjaw, here you go. 1955-59 trucks. https://www.yourcustomchevytruck.com/I seriously thought about it as I’ve always wanted a 58-59 Apache but a 1 year wait and paying up front didn’t sit well with me. This site has piqued my interest. My first question is, do you have to provide the old truck to be restored or do they do that?
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Reckon the '19 with 5.3L can have a 10 speed swapped in for the 8 speed fairly easily?

Sorry to hear but the good part is it is still under warranty. Mine started acting up at 60,500 miles. Just after the warranty expired.

Not sure why people keep buying these crappy products. It's been this way for years and it's all over this forum in every single truck thread... What are we supposed to do? Buy a 1985 Chevy off Craigslist? New trucks aren't even more expensive than used trucks. Last time I bought was 3 years ago, and it was only a $4,000 discount for a truck with 50k miles on it. No thanks, I'll buy new.

Jawbone/DeerN, talking to Anthony, the owner, once you put half $ down, he has guys that then go find the year/model truck you want. Once they procure the truck, then you get title to the truck and the balance of the cost is sent. Then they start the restoration. You pick a number of options from his list( including up to 4 WD and z stroker motor) when doing the deal. Tires & rims are what comes in it when found unless you want to upgrade. You get a list of available colors to paint it. About 44 weeks later it’s done and ready for delivery or shipping. He was in Las Vegas. It was about $1000 to ship to Florida in an open trailer, $2000 in an enclosed. He had references he would supply but only after a deal was worked out but not paid. I have the options cost sheet if you’re interested and can send to you. Let me know. I’m still interested myself but undecided.

I had a 59 Chevy for a while. Neat old truck and I could work on it myself but the ride with that straight axle was rougher than a night in jail.

I have a 6 speed 2017 and mine went out. I guarantee the 10 speed with frak up eventually I was just talking to one of my neighbors yesterday and he said the transmission is going out in his 2016 Z71 @ 130K. It has never been off the pavement or pulled anything heavier than a 5x8 trailer with a four wheeler.
