For a number of years I was a member of a hunting club in Barbour County AL. One of my favorite fellow members was a guy named John Atkins. John was a giant of a man, and had played college football at Wichita State. John was a gentle giant, and extremely friendly to this Yankee member. He trusted me with the location of some of his favorite “Honey Holes”. I just found out that John passed away earlier this week at the age of 60. Several members here on Aldeer knew John- Yekrut, Daryl and others. John lived in Opelika, and leaves behind his wife, a son JD, and a daughter named Jenna. He also had four grandkids whom he adored. Rest In Peace, Big John.

Praying for the family. Glad he left you with some great memories. Sounds like John was a fine fellow and I’m sure he will be missed by many.

Sad news. I knew John when he worked at Jenkins Brick. Prayers for his family. He was a good man.
