Well I'm sitting here and I hear a crash crash flop and bang and 2 very nice wall hanger bucks come loaping through my field. Well before I could get my gun ready they were gone, and about 30 seconds behind them comes a large white dog. In a way I hate the dog but in a way I don't I may have not seen them if it wasnt him and I may woulda killed one of them if if it wasnt him. Mmm

Im a dog lover, have 7 hunting dogs but when I spend my gas and time and lose sleep I say (choot em)! Its a grey subject but I have had it happen to me on more that one occasion. I love my dogs thats why they dont run lose during deer season. Chances are you would have killed one of those bucks. Maybe not that day but eventually, hell they are halfway to Kentucky by now.

was hunting fresh cutover today and spotted someting running through it. binos up and two dogs cruising through. never gave me a good shot or i wouldve. after hunt was at my truck unloading gear talking to a club member when he says whats that? 40 yrd in front of us was one of the dogs. i loaded my gun got him in the scope and he had on a collar! today was his lucky day.

If you really don't know that answer..... You should brush up a little on the Law before you pick your gun back up to head out hunting. Ignorance of the Law is NO excuse!

It would not have been illegal to shoot the dog in the situation he described.
and it is not illegal to let dogs run loose in unincorporated areas of Alabama.

Cruelty to Animals, which is what people are charged with after getting caught shooting a dog that is NOT threatening them or their livestock, IS illegal.
