Particularly one of the 98-2002 models. 4x4, were these good dependable vehicles like Toyota?

I had one, older than that, it was a very dependable vehicle.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Friend had one years ago as a camp vehicle; it caught on fire and burned up.

Buddy had one, yes on fairly dependable, not even in the same league as Toyota tho

Friend of mine had several. Usually replaced them every 200,000 miles or so, he swore by them.

I had a 1997. It was a great 4x4. Very dependable. Lots of room. Handled like a 3 legged bar stool.

Cousin has either a 98 or 2000 I think. Welded tube bumpers, Warn winch, 3" of lift, Q buckshots. Just leaves it at his camp. It'll flat out go just about anywhere you've got the balls to drive it through.

First car I had at 16 was a 1994 trooper 4x4. was my dads, then sisters, and then mine. had 240k miles when i was done with it and i ragged that thing down powerlines in mud etc, never had an issue. we gave it away to someone in need when i got another car few years later

I have a 2000 model with about 250,000 miles on it. Love the room inside and the ride, average mileage 15-18, and has gone everywhere I've wanted to go. They were all made in Japan. They were designed for use in third world counries so they have skid plates under the drive train. I also had 2 of the older models with 4 bangers and manual transmissions, and an Isuzu Rodeo. Currently have a 2000 Rodeo 4x with V6. Will go just about anywhere my Ranger does. But it's quieter and has heat/air. If I had to do it again, I'd buy a Toyota 4runner or Jeep Cherokee just for aftermarket parts availability

The ones ive been around have been ok at best..at the worst..total pieces of junk. They ok...but they aint toyotas or nissans

I owned a mid 90s model. The engines were basically the same engines as the s-10 motors of the time. I liked mine but everything engine wise is aluminum so keep that in mind

My wife still has her 99 Rodeo 2wd bought brand new. Has 90k miles on it now and it's been a good vehicle for her. She doesn't go into the woods with it, just city miles.
