You should just keep hunting no matter how much she wants to spend time with you. Soon enough you will be free to hunt 365 days per year.
Spending time with your wife/family shouldn't feel like a chore.

I had a buddy that used to say the same thing about hunting season is only a few months long and went every free minute he could. Problem was he turkey hunted too but his excuse was the season wasn't that long. He also fished but only during the Spring, when he didn't go turkey hunting. He also had to scout for deer and put in his work days. Adding up the time, he was gone a lot more than he thought. One evening he left for the hunting club and, after getting an hour or so down the road, started feeling a little guilty about leaving his wife at home and decided to turn around. Eventhough he had used the excuse that she had him the rest of the year. Long story short. He pulls in the drive to find one of his best friend's truck sitting in the drive. You can guess what he found inside the house. There's no excuse for what she did but it does give you something to think about. By the way. His grown son has followed in his footsteps and is big an outdoorsman as he ever was. His son's divorce is final in January. I guess he followed little too close in his dad's footsteps. That is why I am on here. I don't hunt actually....Im just looking out for the hot, lonely house wives!

I told mine how it was gonna be during deer season before we married too. Was never an issue untill we had 2 more girls. I got slammed the other night for hunting too much. I dont hunt nearly as hard as I Use to. I use to leave on Thur. night and come home Sunday night. Now I hunt within driving distance so I can be home with my kids every night. I told her be carefull because she knows how hard I can hunt( like I use to). I also told her when our 4yr old and 4mo. baby are gone to the woods with their daddy every weekend and she feels left out, she can start hunting or sit at home and cry in one hand and chit in the other and see which fills up first. One day she will understand.
Its not the will to win but the will to prepare to win!

If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

Not necessarily, if you can satisfy her when she needs it there's no need for her to go anywhere else. Just as if the situation was turned around and your wife was always gone working, hanging with her friends ect, if she was hardly ever there to satisfy you you would start to think what it would be like to have someone who would. This is why almost all my friends marriages have problems they simply do not spend as much time together. We've come to realize what makes us BOTH happy, and I can tell you I am more than satisfied in everyway.See how many bjs you get with the my way or the high way strategy.

So the wife is complaing about me hunting so much so I took the day off so we could have some "quality time". So today she has been baking cookies all day! Give me a break! It's complete BS, and then especially when you give up a day and it becomes "Oh, I'm just going to clean house" or "I'm making food for the Johnson's sick mother" and you sit on your ass around the house, or "Let's ride around (wasting gas) and look at the pretty Christmas lights." I'm with you guys. This stuff drives me crazy but not as much as it used to. As soon I realized that a lot of what she considers "quality time" is simply me being there to listen to her. Not talking about deep conversations or discussing "issues", just daily routine "chit-chat". It drives me nuts and she knows it so it means that much more to her when I do "give up a day". We just aren't wired the same and it's a good thing because we'd never have clean clothes, a hot meal on the table or many other things that I usually take for granted. Not all women need this "chit-chat" stuff like my wife does but I promise you all women have some type of emotional need and if you don't know what it is for your woman, I highly recommend you find out. Because as has been stated on here already, somebody will satisfy it. You may be a lucky one whose wife finds security in a freezer full of meat and kicks you out the door to get more. I don't think for a minute that "setting her straight" is what gets a season long pass. Another thing I've found (like someone else has posted), she doesn't mind nearly as much since I started taking the kids hunting with me. I know this is because she finds security knowing I'm spending quality time with our kids and being a good father. Funny thing (and this is going to sound weird I think), she told me it turned her on to watch me rolling around on the floor playing with kids. I am 100% certain it was not the same as how us guys might get "turned on" watching our wives roll around on the floor. It has everything to do with knowing that I am a good father and love our children. So I would say I'm a lucky one in that department because I love spending time with the kids so BONUS!! Bottom line, No I don't think you are wrong for feeling that way. You are not wired like your wife is. Now if you mope around and complain about it to her THEN you are wrong and selfish. Don't you think she already knows you want to be in the woods. At least make the most of it and let her know you love her by suffering through it with a smile on your face. She'll know.

Any Male can lay down the law and spend his time how he chooses. It takes a MAN to be a good husband and father. Being a good husband and father isn't being what you want to be. It is being what they need you to be.

Wife will complain no matter what you do. If you are not out hunting, she will find something else to complain about. At least if you are out hunting you won't have to listen to it for a while.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Ephesians 5:25 I, for one, sure am glad that Christ Jesus, the model husband, didn't tell me to kiss off because he was going hunting when it was time for Him to give Himself up for me (i.e. his grumbling bride).
