Just got home from McClusky, North Dakota. What a trip it was. Daily limits on ducks. 11 different species of ducks. Canadian geese, snows, blues, and a Tundra swan to round out the trip. The weather was. But extreme even for there. It presented some challenges. Overall, best duck hunt I’ve ever experienced.

Son was out there two weeks ago and you had to work for what you got. Last two days got snow and colder so it put them on the move. They had some good limits, but not like they had the last two years they have gone. He also said a lot of the farmers have put posted signs up that had previously not had them out. He thinks outfitters have paid them a little money to keep people out.

I was up there a week ago and it was great hunting. Limits of ducks in dry fields daily and plenty of pheasant, grouse and partridge in the afternoons. Paradise for me up there.

The duck hunting in SD was the best I’ve ever experienced. Was stationed there for 3 years and it was consistently good from opening day until freeze up, and even after freeze up if you found running water. And I say this comparing it to AR, MS, and west TN, which I grew up duck hunting.

Plus otc deer hunting, great walleye fishing and great turkey hunting. I don't know why I haven't moved yet.

Gotta do 3 years in AK, but after that I’m gonna try and get to ND and stay a while.

Take your shotgun with you. There was a bmc from Mississippi on one of those 225s I rode that duck hunted. He said it was the best waterfowl hunting in the world. I know I saw a lot of ducks every time I went up there.
