I agree with this 100%. Im all in. If I die trusting in God, im satisfied with that.

What If your preacher feels God is telling him it’s best to do online services for a little while?

How, exactly, can he gather this through the scripture?

Scripture doesn’t mention internet much.

Do you believe that’s the only way to get instruction from God?

I am not involved but I think it is clear this young man has a lot of learning to do in order to grow into a church leader. Before going to a new church, pray hard about it because God may have put you in this young man's path to help him learn. In a Godly way of course.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I’ll assume MarksOutdoors and WmHunter aren’t going to acknowledge Romans 16:1-16 and women being leaders of the church

Guess there isn’t much to respond to

You really need to read Hebrews 1:1-2.

Just did.

You care to explain how it relates to a pastor praying for guidance?

1 In the past God spoke(A) to our ancestors through the prophets(B) at many times and in various ways,(C) 2 but in these last days(D) he has spoken to us by his Son,(E) whom he appointed heir(F) of all things, and through whom(G) also he made the universe

Not sure why you addressed me, specifically, but if you're referring to Phoebe, she was described as a servant, some translations use, deaconess. Deacons or deaconess is a servant within the church. Nowhere in the Bible will you find any reference to a woman as Pastor or Elder.

According to the UPC (United Pentecostal Church) only the folks that were baptized in Jesus name only and spoke in Tongues are going to heaven.

Everything in the Bible is GOD's word.

Everything the Prophets and Apostles wrote is GOD breathed and dictated straight from the lips of the Almighty.

The New Testament is crystal clear: only a married MAN can be the pastor/priest/bishop - and ditto the deacons.

Anyone who contradicts this is apostate.

The Jezebel spirit will mislead and destroy a church faster then anything.

1 Timothy 2:12...They are not allowed to teach men, as well. We either believe the Bible or we don't.
I'm not trying to sound harsh at all. In my time in church leadership, I'd say over 80% of the problems
I've seen in churches have been because of the women.

Now wait a minute guys....we can’t cherry pick which part of the Bible to follow...

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Not that I’m in favor of women pastors/preachers...just pointing out one can use scripture to argue both sides

1 Timothy 3:2 is pretty plain about an overseer being a husband of one wife. Hard to argue what that means.

Go online and check out "The Church of Eleven22" It's here in Jacksonville, FL. Joby Martin is the lead Pastor. Main Campus is in San Pablo area with 7 additional satellite campuses. There's any where from 1500-2000 per campus with 4 services a week. That doesn't include the people who listen in on the internet. That's a lot of outreach my Aldeer brothers & sisters. We're finishing a 12 week series on the Sermon on the Mount. Tune in and listen to the Holy Spirit.

Hix14, thats about as plain as anything in the bible. Heres your problem "ole aunt sally was a preacher and a good one, God must have been wrong", or "well, I go to a church that has a woman for a pastor and she said so and so, so the bible is wrong" or"well, there in that other scripture, it says this so its ok for a woman to be a pastor". We know what it says and we know what it means, but a human being will find a way to justify what they want to see happen, or what they want to do, in their own mind. At that point, it dont matter what God said about it, its ok. Goes on every day. You can find some more of it right here pretty easily.

I think one of the main confusions and misunderstandings is not taking the consideration of who was writing, when it was written, where it was written, to who it was written. And a lot of times the whole context of the conversation.

Forgetting that these were mere men, though inspired by the Holy Spirit were still just men. Very new in the Finished Work of the Cross, having just left a very ritualistic law driven way of life. Their culture was very much different than that of our western world.

They didn't have it all figured out in the first century church, much like you and I learning and making mistakes along the way. God still loved us, worked through us as we learned to listen to the Holy Spirit.

Paul who wrote most of the New Testament struggled not only in his personal walk (Romans 7) but also struggled in convincing them of the Gospel of Grace and the Finished Work of the Cross. Some withstood him and even said his message was hard to understand. He even went so far as to perform some of their rituals (Circumcision) just to appease some of them.

I could say more but feel I'd come close to violating the Code of Conduct. So those are just some of my thoughts...Grace and Peace to you all in Christ

Doesn't seem like a big enough deal to leave a church over.

We could all argue in circles about moving to a "online" or "radio" format for services, so I'll leave that one to you professionals.

As to the other stuff, I don't think having a previous pastor preach is that weird, but maybe that's just a baptist thing? And the pastor's wife isn't the pastor. If she wants to socially distance, who cares? If he truly is 20, seems crazy that he is already the head pastor, but again I don't really know the workings of the Methodist Church. Anyway, I'm sure there is still something to learn from him, and plenty he can learn from others. Pastors gotta start somewhere.

Take him to lunch and talk to him.
