Am I the only one that plays the roulette game of which stand to hunt? No matter where I sit this time of year I always fell like the deer are setting up camp around one of my other stand sites. So need help hunt hardwoods or a field trying to catch them heading for/from thicket? You make the call and I will update results. Thanks in advance

Avoid the fields and head to the oak trees. At least in Central Alabama - the acorns are dropping and THAT is where the deer are.
If you have a 2-3 year old clear-cut - hunt that and watch for bedding activity.

Gonna be a hard freeze again tonight in North Bama stay off the fields. I've never seen deer on a field until the frost begins to melt off. Head for the hardwoods.

I haven't seen the first deer this year in the hardwoods. Watching scrapes and more scrapes over millons of acrons, and haven't seen the first deer. Now I can't even tell you how many deer I have seen sitting plots. If I had to guess I would say 15+ and that's just since gun season started and I only hunted it four times. Killed one big 8 there.

Have you tried the ouji board technique? Try oak trees with acorns close to thick cover.

Easy solution...take down all your stands except one. That way the decision is easy to make! ;-)

Well I had to take a side and chose the field edge. Had a small spike come cruising through about 6:05 and then between 6:30 and 7:30 had 5 does cross the field heading to a thicket then all activity was over. Is anyone seeing any chasing going on in North AL.
