I swear I heard or saw Ford is coming out with an under 20,000 dollar truck. Probably like a striped down Ranger or S 10 use to be.

Looked at some of the new Ford F-250 gas burners on the internet last week. That is what I want for my next truck but would like to wait until the new engine is a couple years old. Was a bunch in the 42k-45k range.

You are right deadwood. Also, the best salesperson at the dealership is the finance manager. He makes the dealership the most money. Just tell him no.

The reason truck prices are $90k is because they keep pushing financing terms out to unrealistic numbers. It was unheard of 20 years ago for someone to finance an automobile for more than 60 months.

That kept the prices down.

After the 2008 Financial Crisis we started to see 72 and 84 months terms along with even longer in some cases. Thanks Obama. That's what we got for bailing these companies out?

Now they have slashed the warranty and you have to pay for a decent warranty on top of the price of the vehicle. Thus, further increasing the cost.

This should not be allowed to happen. There is something we once had called consumer protection. In this sense THAT is protecting those that understand their financing...... from some dumbarse that is financing a $85,000 diesel F-250 for 108 months that doesn't own a trailer.

Irresponsible consumers is why vehicle prices are this high.

Been in the business for 28 yrs. You can see in my screen name what department. In the early 2000s we would sell 200 to 250 units per month now we sell about a 100. in my thinking price on new trucks is way out of line. You have to understand the big wigs running the show have never been on the front line trying to make a living selling this high priced trucks. The price has gone up much faster than peoples wages, and what do they care when they build a truck and send it to the dealer they get there money right then! On the 0% it is a feel good thing. If you have good credit you ( in most instances) you are not going to pay as much in interest as the rebates you are giving up. And if you are not going to keep it the whole term of finance you are paying 5 to 7 thousand more for the truck.

Consumer protection, aka more government regulations? We have way too much of that Horsechitt already!!

Yep, trucks are expensive nowadays, but the $90k trucks are not the norm. Most are less than half that much out the door. Big Trucks and big SUV's are cash cows for Detroit. If they didn't sell them they would be outta business.

I just had a good bit of work done on my 2010 F-150. A whole lot cheaper to maintain them than to buy a new one.

True to an extent, but the law of diminishing returns kicks in at some point. Not to mention the time lost due to shop time and not trusting your vehicle will get you where your going without issues. My last truck was an 08 with 250k miles and I knew it needed major work and new tires, probably 5-6k in repair and tire cost. Decided I wasn't going to dump any more money into an old truck so I traded in for an 18 model almost 2 years ago and am glad I did.

Truck/SUV prices are what they are for one reason and one reason only.................because people are willing to pay it.

No way I am paying more for a truck than my 1st house. Aint gonna happen. Why I drive old vehicles

I know of at least 3 people, personally, that have 3-figure house payments but have a single vehicle with a 4-figure monthly payment. Absolute insanity....but hey, who am I to tell them what they should/shouldn't do....

I just try to maintain and keep our vehicles for a LONG time. My 96 Z71 has 336K miles, 2011 Explorer 240K miles- while I understand the thoughts of spending a lot of money to maintain and the thoughts of diminishing returns. But, even at 4K a year in maintenance is cheaper than buying new.
