ok so ... one “casualty” (among many) of my divorce in 2015 was - my ex took my blender ... its 2020 so perhaps the blender “technology” has improved 🤷🏻‍♂️

open to recommendations on an excellent blender that won’t break the bank ... i know i need a good “pulse” mode - beyond that, i’m clueless

educate me - TIA

Our ninja has a catastrophic lid failure after about 2 years. The mechanism that locks the lid on isn't built well.

I liked it prior to that

We now have a nutri bullet. Had it 6 months or so, seems like a good one. Time will tell.

I think all small appliances are designed to fail.

Had a ninja for a few years. It crapped out.

Bought a vitamix 5200 on black Friday that was discounted a good bit. Questioned spending that much on a blender, but it's been a workhorse for cooking and making smoothies and milkshakes.

Just checked on what I bought. $400 for the Vitamix 5200 brand new... I'd say it is easily approaching commercial grade. Paid $280 out the door on Amazon on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Having two young kids that like smoothies and milkshakes, and using it for a lot of chopping and blending for cooking, I'd say we're at the point of getting our money out of it (I'm cheap as hell - that's why I bought a $99 Ninja first go around that never really did what it was supposed to do.) With Vitamix's reputation, I expect the thing will be working for a long, long time.

They also sell refurbs on their website. Look into their warranty...might be a decent deal: https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/shop/certified-reconditioned-standard

FYI - best feature is that it's easy as hell to clean.
