The industry I support got the okay to start back this Friday. All of my employees are telling me they will make more money on unemployment than going back to work. One of my guys was on the way out in September anyway, but told me this morning he was content staying on unemployment and riding this out. He told me only to schedule him if I absolutely have to. I will admit I'm a little miffed at the situation, but what can you do? I know everyone is replaceable, but the costs to hire and train an employee at the peak of the season is resourcefully prohibitive. Any thoughts? I'll sit back and listen.

Yep all apart of the plandemic. Get more people on the tit before Nov. I will kill myself to make my people successful. You have to meet me half way. You rather sit at home, I will replace you. Lazy people and/or poor attitude are a cancer to a team/organization. Cut it out before it grows.

AL Dept of Labor has been very clear that Unempolyment ends when you tell them to go back to work. https://labor.alabama.gov/news_feed/News_Page.aspx?id=226

Sounds like you have some sorry SOBs as former employees. They're probably democrats now if they weren't already. This exactly why the dems pushed the extra unemployment money

His/her laziness isn’t your problem. You should schedule the workers you need and if they quit that’s their choice but at least they’re not eating our taxes.

If the work is there, can't you dispute the unemployment and get it stopped? I know we've fired folks before that tried to draw. They were fired for solid reasons and we disputed their claim and won. We also had one employee get mad and quit. She filed, we disputed, and we won.

There are directions in the lik above about how to report it.

Fire them immediately then and be done with them b/c they're worthless. I would call each employee individually, let them know they are expected to be at work Friday. Anyone not showing up will be immediately terminated for NOT showing up. If you fire them it needs to be done correctly so you don’t have to continue paying unemployment benefits.

My wife is on a board. They had a meeting the other day about the same thing. Sounds like they may have to do a total overhaul because none of the people want to come back to work. They went from making probably 300 a week or less to, what nearly 900 or so? These are young college aged kids. I’m guessing if they are offered to come back to work but refuse to, that it cancels any kind of unemployment benefits?

Once you recall them for employment and if they refuse, they can no longer receive a unemployment benefit.

Send each one a letter with the expected start date. 3rd no show no call, they quit. No unemployment for quitting then send a certified letter to the state explaining the events.

Socialism takes over countries, because the vast majority of people are lazy. Then once Socialism takes over the lazy ones realize that it's not the Barrel of Monkeys that they all thought it was going to be. Then they have to fight their way out of it.

I guess this brings up the question, if they're drawing unemployment, didn't you technically already lay them off? So there's no telling them they have to come back, you've basically already canned them.

Play the card AL DOL has laid out for you and call them all back. If they refuse, hang their asses out to dry. Just make sure you have your bases covered. You don't need that type of employees anyhow.

I am probably wrong on this, but I thought I read the “extra $600.00 a week ends at the end of July. However, It will probably be extended.

^^^^This is the way I understand it......if they refuse to come back to work, the employee is no longer eligible for unemployment. may be more to it I am not aware of.
