No bass boats allowed ! seriously, what do you mean by bay ? If you are talking about bassfishing around the causeway/interstate have at it. If you mean going out to the ship channel it all depends on the wind. What are you wanting to do? You really need to watch the tides, there are shallows there as well as rock piles where old ships threw out ballast stones. The is good fishing on out going tides, don't expect to catch a bunch of 5 lbers tho.

Thanks, I wasn't going to head out into the ship channel. I know the place really well, I went fishing there with my uncle a lot. I just mean will it handle a little brackish water, I'm just going to be fishing mostly pylons and mabye an artificial reef

I have seen one fishing an oil rig several miles offshore before but any open water is going to require calm winds.

There should not be much saltwater on the top with Barry at 7 ft, but you can still flush motor if concerned. SE winds can be brutal for a bass boat, so be careful.

I used to see rangers,skeeters,procraft,...etc. all the time in texas an thats the land of bay fishin. We waded alot an i saw alot of bass boats fishin.

If there’s wind, no. If it’s calm, you’ll be fine. I’ve been out there in a 17ft aluminum duck boat and a flats boat plenty of times.

Get you a Saltaway SAm32 kit and all your worries will be over. Flush motor, clean trailer, ect. This is the stuff used to clean fighters on air craft carriers.

It would also e a good idea to back it in fresh water on your way home to fully cleanse trailer and engine.

I've fished 10 miles out from Stuart Fl in the Atlantic several times in an older bass boat.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I fished the bay at the end of fort Morgan out of an alluminum boat and that will never happen again!!!!!
