If it is just for purposes of camping you may want to consider Roebuck. They have all the amenities a State Park offers. However, for hunting purposes and accessing Demopolis WMA you would have to lock through the dam or trailer your boat to the ramp below lock 5. I think it would only be a 15-20 minute drive from Roebuck.

Jennings Ferry is the campground behind Roebuck. It’s quiet with very nice restrooms and showers.

Go stay down at forkland down near demopolis. A lot more land down that way and more deer too. Something bad happened to the deer population several years ago at lock 5 and Its still nothing like it used to be
