Both are fine rifles, and you'd have a tough time going wrong with either. (we have both!)

Both are nice, both will serve you well. I prefer the tube and the price on the Marlin, prefer the Ruger for nearly everything else.

10/22 - Mine shoots great and you can get a lot of after market stuff for it too. 50 round magazine, etc.

Another vote for 10/22. Marlin's quality is dog doo doo these days.

Both are fine weapons. I prefer the Marlins myself. If you’re wanting to customize the parts available for the 10/22’s are plentiful.

Ruger. When the little plastic plunger thingy in the marlin magazine tube breaks off its impossible to replace it and you can't buy just a replacement magazine tube. I have a useless one in the back of the safe because of this.

Had an older model marlin so can't speak of the current quality but I never had a failure to eject and it was very accurate. 10/22s have more mods available if you're in to that. My vote is the Marlin.

LMAO...that was actually IN stock a minute ago when I posted it! There were a couple others I noticed as soon as the search came up that were out of stock, so I hunted one and checked to be sure it was in stock before I used that link.
Ebay is another good source for parts like that, too.
