Me and a couple of buddies are headed to Shorter AL, for a 4 day group trip. I was wondering what weeks the rut is usually around the area. Also have an extra week of vacation to do a solo trip for a couple of days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose nothing is ever out of the question, but that's going to be a Jan 10 thru Jan 31 rut for the most part. We hunted all around northern Lee / southern Chambers, and some in norther Macon counties for 20 years, 99% of the "rut" we saw would be middle of January. Seems like every once and a while there'd be a big buck killed "following" some does on New Years. I personally would see a full-on grunting chase the opening week of bow season on some of that land every year, but I really can't explain that.

We will be there at the camp in Shorter for a day or so then the rest of the time in Tuskegee National forest for the next 4 days. Thanks for all the help. Just have alot of close friends coming home from military braches and want to show them a great time while we are there.
