YOu fly fishermen need to get your gear ready. The flys are hatching on Logan Martin and the bream are tearing um up.

What area would be good BJ? I'de like to take Mrs.308 to LM to get into some big bream. I've only fished around the I-20 area.

308, Down stream and thats as good a place as any when the flies are hatching. However, for the last couple of days the activity has slowed a little, for what ever reason.

You seem quite familiar about lake martin. i have always wanted to make a crappie fishing trip there. we mostly fish here in west ala on the warrior and tombigbee lakes and millers ferry area.
my question is what or where is a lock and dam on the river or lake closest to the interstate and are there some good backwater lakes near a lock and dam . i would come up 59 and get on 20.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Buckgrunt, Logan Martin not Martin. To get to the dam, get off I-20 at exit 158 and head south on AL 231, go about 8 miles and turn left on the "dam" road(I think it is 54), maybe 4 miles to the dam(the fishing wall is on the west side.
The boat launch most accessable for you would be about 1/4 mile south of I-20 at exit 162(Riverside Marina). Fishing in that area is as good as any. Remember the lake is pretty big, 18,000 acres, 50 miles from dam to dam and 250 miles of shore line.
There are several marinas off 231 and one right on 231 about 4 or 5 miles from I-20.
They seem to have caught the lock jaw recently but that could change anytime.

thanks bigjack. that helps me alot. i know exactly where the riverside marina is located. that is one hole of water. i will make sure i have a full tank of fuel.

Here in C'burg we're on the river part of lay lake. I've been killing bream under the low bridges. It must be the nesting season for the birds under the bridge , I guess there swallows, but whenever there poop hits the water the bream will come out of the water trying to eat it. Try any dry fly with white.
