Cell phones are far more dangerous. I wish they'd arrest people for that. I follow my maps a lot, on my cell phone

My younger brother was a drunk driver. Charged three times, convicted twice. Killed by a texting teenage driver (while sober). Karma is a bitch. I miss him, but we as a family could not get him to stop drinking and driving.

I read the stats you post but I can tell you that almost all of my near misses I've the past 5-10 years was because of somebody playing with a phone. I saw a girl come within a few feet of running a stop sign on 69S here in Tuscaloosa. Had she went another 10' I would've broadside her doing 65mph. There would've been nothing I could've done because of my speed and her direction. She just happend to look up and slam on breaks. Scared me worse than her because she didn't have a clue.

Loss of life
Drunk driving claims 29 lives per day, more than 10,000 per year. Distracted driving claims 9 lives per day — approximately 3,500 per year.
If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

I think a distracted driver is a little harder to prove than a drunk. You can blood test a drunk. You can pick up a phone and they may or may not have been texting. Could've been reading, looking at weather or maps. I don't think those stats you going by are as cut and dry as you think.

I believe that the police do care...but there's not enough of the good guys to catch all of the complaints that are called in.

They aren't talking about it much, but texting and driving is why your car insurance keeps going up and up and up and up... In roundabout figures, distracted driving claims have increased 3X in the last 10 years. I agree with whoever it was above that said 2/3rds of the cars they pass are holding their phones in their lap and peeking down constantly.

Having just buried a great young man yesterday that was like a son to me who was killed by a drunk driver on the wrong side of the road, I have to say it's left a really bad taste in my mouth. There's no reason for either drunk driving or distracted driving. I believe they both should carry the same sentences and or consequences. No need for someone to take a life by making stupid ass decision. I'm not saying that I haven't made bad choices in my past but by God's grace I didn't hurt someone or myself

How you know they're drinking and driving? Serious Question? the new thing is staring at a phone screen and driving, every damn person I get behind and end up having to pass 2/3rds have a phone in their hand This. It should be legal to shoot these sumbitches. The difference between drinking and driving and texting and driving is that the drunks are at least paying attention to the road.

You can drive from exit 37 on I65 to exit 334 and never see a trooper. I’ve done it so many times it’s sad. Zero enforcement

What if instead of a HOV lane, we made a drunk lane? Put some bumpers on the sides of it like a bowling alley. If we gotta spend tax dollars efficiently, might as well do that instead of paying troopers to enforce it.

I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.
