I just ordered a Garmin 94Sv in the $590 range. I felt it is the best bang for the buck and has very good reviews. Down/Side imaging and charts.

Save your money for a couple years and get a really nice unit if you are serious about using electronics to find and catch fish

Id try the humingbird helix 5 or maybe 7. Im gonna buy one once i do more research. I hear lowrance was better quality but i dont know. I hated my old lawrance and dont really want any of their stuff but aint made time to study all of them. The $100 ones look good for 100 bucks to me. Im not gonna spend 3k on a depth finder. Richard Gene does just fine with his $100 finder. And i have too.
