Addison's bow has a whisker biscuit on it and its ripping the vanes off his arras. Can I cut the whiskers where the vanes are w/out affecting the arra perfomance?

They make diffrent size whisker biscuit for the diameter of the arrow. Maybe the one you have is too small. I havnt had any trouble with mine. But out of everyone I hunt with, I'm the only one that has one. But then again I've had the same bow since 1996 and have only had the whisker biscuit for the past 2years. So, someone that upgrades their bow from time to time maybe a better source.

I think they make them differently, some for Carbon arrows and some for Aluminum arrows. If they do, that may be his problem.....

I used the correct biscuit for years. Over time I had trouble with the fletchings starting to peel off. I tried modifying mine with no luck. Ended up after several years upgrading to a drop-a-way. Problem solved.

I have no problems. What kind of fletchings are you using?

You probably already know this, but you've got to shoot cock vane up. The black whiskers under the arrow are stiffer. I used one then went to a QAD Pro.

Best hunting rest made. Use blazer vanes and you'll have no problems.

Sounds like vanes not properly glued on. Been using whisker biscuit for 10 years and never had a vane ripped off... crinkled up maybe.....

my whisker biscuit in time will crimple up the blazer vanes a little, so i switched to Fusion 2.1 vanes, they are a little stiffer, no problems with those vanes. i shoot them will a little right hand helical twist and they fly good.

I have never had a problem with them, if you use 2 inch fletching. My dad has shot one for longer than I have and he has never had that happen either.

I changed to a biscuit this year. I use blazers and Loc-tite gel and have not had one vane come off yet.

Love the WB! I cannot believe I did not get one before now.

just take some adhesive and put a small dot on the beginning of the vane.

i have shot hundred of arrows through a nap apache drop away,my friend has been shooting a whisker biscuit and needs new fletchings.some people have had alot of good luck using a whisker biscuit, myself i dont really care for them, but they do give you the ability for crazy angles on shooting unmatched by any other rest.

I shoot blazers on carbons and have had no issues. Make sure you have the correct rest as they do make one for aluminum and one for carbons.

I shot a biscuit for many years and just switched to the Quad pro ultra drop away this year on my #1 hunting bow. Here's my take on possible solutions though many have already been mentioned.
1. cock vane up!
2. cheap/improper glue on the vanes
3. check diameter of center hole in WB (small for carbon arras)
(larger for aluminum arras)
4. You can also lube / "butter your biscuit" to reduce friction...Scorpion Venom makes a biscuit lube which I have used and before that product came out I used to put silicon powder on mine.
5. The more you shoot arras through the thing, the less brittle the biscuit becomes. Break it in good. I remember mine eating vanes when it was new.
Good luck! The whisker is a great hunting rest...pretty much fool proof once you get it broken in.

2 words, Marco vanes. My practice arrows been fletched 4 years with Marco's, no problems. Been shot thru a biscuit hundreds of times. They make 2.5" thru 5" length. I'm surprised someone hasn't suggested them already. Goes without saying correct biscuit,( alum v. carbon), properly fletched with good glue.

Good info except for #3. wink
Not totaly true. Carbon will most likely use a medium size. But since there are varios sizes of carbon just pick a biscuit that is just bigger than the shaft. You just don't want a biscuit that fits tight on the arrow.

You are correct Moose24...an oversight on my part. All carbons are NOT the same diameter. I'm just used to the Easton Axis I shoot. They are pretty small in diameter.
