Sunday update: 287 this morning. 24 lbs since 4/4. I dropped from 291 to 287 in 24 hours due to the stomach virus I had early in the week. Then increased from 287 to 289 then back down incrementally to 287,

My blood ketone level has dropped quite a bit. It's running under 1 mmol/L now. I suspect my body has become more efficient at gluconeogenesis. I've also not been intermittent fasting for the past couple of weeks. I'm going to start back with that today.

I did for the first week, but not since then.

Had a little set back at lunch. We went to a hibachi restaurant. I had a half portion of fried rice and thenm scallops had some kind of teriyaki sauce on them that had sugar in it. I almost stopped and got some ice cream on the way home since I had “blown it”but resisted that temptation. That was hard. First time I’ve ever made that choice. That’s why I’ve been so strict on this diet. In the past when I’ve been on diets and I cheated, it just started a downward spiral. I know this, I sure don’t miss this miserable, bloated feeling that I got from eating those carbs.

I’m quite certain that the meal will kick me out of ketosis. I’ll post the results when I go back “in” to let you guys know how long it took

BTW I’m getting lots of PM’s about the diet I’m sure no expert but I don’t mind trying to help anyone or try and answer any questions

You have to reward yourself sometimes. I had a small slice of icecream cake after lunch today. Tasty 🍰

Welp, my blood ketone level is still 0.7 mmol/L

I would have thought the carbs I ate yesterday would have taken me out of ketosis, but it didn't. Apparently those pee strips are worthless. Last night one showed no ketones in urine. Surely I didn't go from nothing back to .7 overnight.

When my weight loss slowed I cut back on fat and started tracking calories

I suggest add intermittent fasting rather than calorie counting.

Ive been zero carb for 12 months. It’s been a slow process for me. I have noticed I see weight loss when I fast - typically one big meal a day. Good luck - I’ve drank the coolaid and am sold on low carb.

I'm eating 1500-1800 most days. Yesterday I had less than 1200.

I am doing intermittent fasting.

Not me, I am "going" a lot less though but I attribute that to the fact that I'm no longer over eating. Less intake = less output.

i had a friend recommend laying off the fish & adding more chicken/pork/beef & voila - it "fixed" my problem ... no more loose stools ....

the new thing for me lately (i'm in month 2) are cramps - started taking magnesium citrate supplements & it's seeming to help ... a nurse friend of mine things i'm not taking in enough electrolytes -- anybody got tips on how to do that?? my calves & feet cramp like a SOB sometimes

Just google carb free electrolytes and you will get several options to investigate to see which of them might work for you.

There's a bunch of good, high fat, low carb (3 g) versions on the interwebs.

The Publix brand in the black containers are some of the best commercial ice cream I have had, especially the peach. And about every 4 or so weeks it is on sale 2/$6.

BGD, Magnesium is a supplement that's supposed to be taken while doing keto. If I forget to take it for a couple of days, my legs cramp badly at night.

As of yesterday I have lost 130 lbs. I'm 6'2,muscular build and weigh 200 now. I think maybe 20 more pounds will give me my six pack abs.
