What mackdaddy says. I use them every day and I couldn't tell you about any of the new stuff because I've had my DeWalts for years.
The thing you need to do is look at the nameplate.It will say Type 1,Type 2, Type 3,or Type 4. Type 1 is the good stuff that last. Usually what you find cheap is type 3 or 4 which might be okay if you only use it around the house a couple of weekends a year.

Dewalt just came out with their 20volt lithium ion max line they are some tuff sobs and will snap your wrist for real of your not careful just bought the impact driver and going to get the full kit very soon. Battery time is triple my 18volt xrp dewalt kit

Jughead I've used and owned a Dewalt for many years and have zero complaints on overall performance and battery life. My wife bought me the 18v drill/driver combo with 2 batteries , charger , and case as a Christmas gift and I have used it on most everything and put it through the ringer and she's still my #1 go too tool. If for some strange reason I decided to switch brands it would be a Makita based on other tools I own carry that same brand name.

Ryobi lithium 18v for me has been a good choice. I had a couple of drills in the past that discontinued the batteries so when they quit I had to upgrade.
