4 lbs 2 oz-----18" long! i caught this a few years ago and had it mounted by Rocky Drake! 
Rifle....not in my hunting vocabulary!

Wow! Haven't seen that type of Crappie before...the red X kind.  Seriously, I wish I could catch a good sized one myself. DEADorALIVE and I, both, have a good sized largemouth bass at the taxidermist now. I've caught some bream, but I don't have much luck with the crappie.

It look somethin' like this? Caught this one many years ago. I need to get it to Hippi & see if he cain't restore it a bit.

nice one george! that ones a heck of a lot longer than the one i caught it looks like,thats a black crappie aint it? mine is a white crappie,from the backbone down to the belly it was 9-1/2". great catch you got their,how much did that one weigh?

It was right at 4 lbs. & 18 er 19" long. Was a long time ago, probably around '80 to '82. Just a kid & didn't even know what it was when I caught it . Actually, it's still to this date the only Crappie I've ever caught. Caught it in a pond, top water, at night, on a large Jitter Bug of all things. Go figure.  I'd be curious to know just what the record was back in '80 or '82 though, not that it'd matter now. :rolleyes:
