9th grade first period gym class. We just so happened to be working from the 'PE book' that week and were in a portable building with a TV. We watched in silence as the second plane hit.

I was in 7th Grade. It was 2nd period and I was in Mrs. Abney's class when Mr. Abney (no relation) came in and told us to turn the TV on.

my wife at the time was pregnant with our twin daughters, sleeping in our bedroom; her mom was visiting to help out as we were days away from the delivery ... i had just finished my run for the morning, showered, and sat down in my recliner & turned on Squawk Box on CNBC ... they broke into the broadcast with a developing story, "a small aircraft had crashed into one of the buildings of the WTC" ... having been to NYC several times, when they cut to the video of the smoke boiling out of the building, i immediately knew that was no small aircraft & that we were under attack ... i woke up my wife abruptly & told her to get up & watch the news -- and i started going to work & calling everybody i knew ... before i could back out of my driveway, Ana came running outside yelling -- "a second plane has hit the other WTC building!!!" -- and look of sheer panic & horror was on her face ... i got out of my truck & told her to get back inside, sit down, and try to calm down -- we had been dealing with an "at risk pregnancy" the entire time, i feared she'd go into labor ...

our house was in the path of the Austin Bergstrom airport & the eerily silence of no aircraft activity -- i'll never forget that ... i went on into work, and all of my colleagues & i were hovered around a tiny TV ... and we watched both building crumble to the ground ... we were let go as they began to shut down schools & business, and i went home to be with my family ...

i remember thinking that this was going to go down as my generation's "day of infamy" ...

Working. After the 2nd tower fell, things sort of stood still.

A friend of a friend was stuck at the airport after the flights got grounded, we'd never met before, but took her into our tiny townhouse and I think she stayed for 5 days.

I still remember watching the national remembrance ceremony that took place in the National Cathedral. It must of been 6 or 7 days later, maybe 2 weeks, I don't know. The recessional was lead by the 5 military flags and they played the battle hymn of the republic. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

I was at work and heard it on the radio. I remember the feeling of dismay. When the second plane hit, I could have vomited. Then I was pissed. That very day changed my view on politics and immigration.

Studying for a Financial exam (senior at UAB). My brother in law (was just a buddy at the time) was a young LT on a Trident Nuke Sub. I remember sending him an email to stay safe and didn’t hear back for 2 months.

Ran across this version oh hallelujah yesterday. It’s worth the time to listen.

Me and my brother were on an archery elk hunt in Canada. We had no contact with anyone until the camp cook picked us up to carry us back to camp at dark, that's when he told us. The flight back from Calgary a few days later was really tense.

Work. A co-worker came in and told me the first plane hit. Ticked me off a little and I told him it wasn’t funny. He told me he wasn’t joking. We went in the shop where they had a tv on and watched for pretty much the rest of the day. I remember after the second one hit, an older fellow looked at us and said, “Boys, we’re going to war.”

Doing a 1250hp centrifugal compressor overhaul in La Grange for West Point Stevens, The workers didn't come back from break and I finally went up and checked on them everyone was dead silent. I left and went to a Zaxby's for the first time and watched on tv for a couple of hours. I miss doing all that work for the textiles that are gone now, some good guys.

I know my general location but I do not remember anything specific about 9/11/2001. I had no idea what was going on that day. Nobody around me knew either. I did not notice that the planes had stopped flying and there were no vapor trails marking the skies.

However, 9/12/2001 I remember vividly. I was hunting elk in Colorado. We were hunting a different spot on that day. Back then, cell phone signals were very hard to get in remote areas. 3 of us were near the top of a mountain eating lunch and I saw a treeless ridge, so I climbed up to see if I could get any signal at all. I got a week signal and I called my wife and she told me the news. I stood there in disbelief as she told me what had happened. She told me about the Pentagon and I remember thinking that I had just been there a few weeks earlier.

That drive home was also memorable. I cannot tell you how many flags we saw as we drove across this great nation of ours. It is sad that it takes such a great tragedy to spark patriotism and national pride. The county came together and the petty things that divide us suddenly became unimportant. I remember watching the footage several days after the events took place, with tears flowing as my mind tried to process what had happened. News stations had stopped showing the events for fear that children might think it is actually happening again. I remember thinking that it should be shown every day so that we will not forget. In the following days, I remember all of America behind our President as he said, "We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail."

September 12th 2001 is the day that is forever burned into my memory.

Had just got to work and finished a cup of coffee when a co-worker came and grabbed me and told me that I had to see this, a plane had crashed into the WTC. We went across the lot and into the office to see the TV and no sooner than we walked up to see, a second plane hit the other tower and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My mind couldn't process what my eyes had just seen, on live TV. My co-worker grabbed my with both hands and said, "you're not going anywhere!" You see, the very next morning, my wife and I were flying to NYC to tour and vacation and then on to D.C. for more touring. Tickets bought and paid for, reservations, etc. PITA! Close call also. After going home that evening and processing all of the news and information, the sadness and rage felt was enormous. Much worse than the space shuttle Columbia explosion. That's a whole nother story.

In CAD drafting class at Bevill State. Never forget when the 2nd plane hit and my teacher dropped her head and started weeping.
