You use a computer, own a tv, cellphone,...you're buying Japanese. Very few things are totally American made any more. Look, my grandfather had a deep hatred of the Japanese that he expressed daily. I can also remember a time in the late 70's when we ridiculed classmates for buying anything but American cars, but those days are over and that line of thinking is 40 years in the past.

Im glad the japs didnt build their army like they did their cars back in the 70s to 90s or we might be speakin jap rite now lol.

My wife had a 2004 dodge 1500 4x4. Short cab, short bed, automatic. Had 55k miles on it when she sold it. Had the 5.7 hemi. It was fast, got awful gas mileage. And it was the biggest piece of junk we ever owned lol. One day i shut the door and the whole rear glass fell out! It was like plexi glass. The pass window would never work. Had bad electrical issues. It was a lemon if there is such a thing.

My 04 dodge 3500 was the best truck I ever had.
With 360,000 miles it was still tight and never had a major repair.
I did replace the clutch, at 330,000 miles.
The most expensive thing was buying 6 new tires every couple of years.
I think the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are just built tougher.

I will say the best fuel economy I have ever gotten out of a truck was on a business trip to central Mississippi. My rental was a full size 4 door Dodge Ram with the 4.7 liter V8. My buddy and I couldn't believe the mileage. We averaged over 25mpg for the entire trip. Including running back and forth from the plant to Starkville where we were staying. I've gotten good fuel economy from the several of the newer 5.7 Rams too.

There was something about my Tacoma that I never liked. It was a great truck it just was uncomfortable to me. Lots of Japanese cars are that way. Most Japanese cars the pedals are too close and the steering wheel is too far away. The seat is too low to the floor for a truck, the front of the seat is too low and you feel like you are sliding off of it. The steering wheel is too far away. It's all minor stuff like that, but it all adds up to a truck that gets on your nerves pretty quick on a trip. My 2004 Ford Ranger was much more comfortable to drive than the Tacoma. So is my Jeep Wrangler. I think it all boils down to the fact that American cars are designed for American body types. Taller people with longer legs.

Now that I've sold my Tacoma to Straycat, I'm back looking for another 2004 or newer 4.0 Ranger, but this time I'm going to get the rear doors that actually open. Ideally I want an FX4 with a manual transmission. Although I haven't ruled out a full sized Dodge, Chevy or Ford or even a Nissan Frontier. The Frontiers I've driven seem to be more comfortable than the Tacomas.

It all depends on usage. I have a Tacoma extended cab. 99% of time is only me in the truck and off road. I just filled up this morning and got over 22 mpg. I also have a Ford F250 extended cab. It's only used for moving loads and 99% of the time is by myself. I get between 8-10 mpg depending on load and terrain. If I need to go to town, usually my wife drives in her vehicle. An F150 is useless to me. Too big for my woods work and too small for serious pulling. But the #1 vehicle i drive on a daily basis time wise is a Polaris 570 Ranger. So, only the purchaser can say what best fits their needs.

Aint it the truth. So much easier and faster to run around the farm on an atv.
I been on the road, a lot, in the last two months.
But I'm getting back to my normal routine now, putting more miles on the atv than my truck.

A good friend and his business partner bought 4 Dodge fleet trucks last year and he was tickled with the mileage. Then they started blowing up, I think they have one that still runs.

Got a 2016 3.5 Ecobeast and LOVE IT. At 55k miles so far in under 2 years and haven't had any problems. I'm planning on keeping this one for a LONG time if it lets me!

Not even a debate the Toyo hands down! On my 6th toyo zero issues! 1 ford 25 problems!! 1 chevy tons on problems!

This what I’ve always said about Toyota trucks. They are so uncomfortable. I HATE sitting in the floor.

Tacomas run forever and hold value, f150s are larger and can tow more as well as haul more. Mid-size vs Full size. I love tacomas but I drive a 2012 Sierra and love it.

And I wouldn't be caught dead in an older chevy with their side terminal batteries and crappy hoods that bent when you tried to close them. Or a Ford with the sux liter engine.

Get out of the 1980's when all American trucks were rustbuckets sand join us in reality, 21st century style.

If you haven't driven a Dodge/Ram in 10-15 years, then you have no clue what you are talking about. BTW - Same goes for Ford and Chevy. All build good trucks now, probably the best trucks ever built.

Regarding the Hemi and mileage - If you hot rod it, then your mileage will suck. I have gotten as high as 22 highway, but you have to drive careful to do it. Other brands would be the same.

I have heard rumors regarding Dodge/Ram quality for years, but have never personally seen it. I know of a 1990 one ton Dodge with a Cummins that is still running.

The Dakota was a whole other animal. I had one of those, and went back to full size.

A Chrysler product is not an option. I've owned two, never again.

The Ram isn't a Chrysler product anymore. It's worse. It's a Fiat.

Still will not be buying one.

When the aluminum body idea came out in the Fords I thought it was probably a bad idea. Has it been proven to be either a bad or good idea?

Just don't dump cinderblocks into the bed from several feet above it....the Chevy commercials showed that doing such would put holes in the bed of a Ford. Although, it does seem to beg the question, who exactly dumps a bunch of cinder blocks into the bed of a $40k+ truck from several feet in the air???

The reason I never bought a Toyota was the seats. They were always uncomfortable to me and to low to the floor.

I agree with older 2wd models. The newer 4wd seats are comfortable
