I bought the 4 door, four wheel drive Tacoma about 18 months ago after having nothing but full size Chevrolets for years. the Tacoma is a little truck. I'm 6'2" and about 235 and the change in size of the trucks is a hard to get use to change, if I had it to do over again I would have bought a full size truck although I do like the 21+ mpg.

I have said truck you're looking for and it's better than a ford any day of the week. My son just bought a 2015 Taco for 24k up in NC. Good trucks for sure.

In town about 14-15 if I stay out of it, which is hard to do because of the v8 sound. 3.31 rear end helps alot with the highway.

I went from a 4 door Z71 Silverdao to 4 door Tacoma. I like the tacoma and have not any issues with it, but my next truck will be full size. I'm 6'1 180 and the Tacoma just feels cramped compared to a full size truck.

Similar story here. For the most part, I've always driven full size F-150's. This last go round, I bought a 4Runner for work. I just haven't been super impressed in the decline of Toyota quality and I can't get used to the smaller ride. If I could do a "do over" it would have been a full size Ford. Also, I've always been in the "ecoboost bash" camp. That is until I drove one a month or so ago. That thing has stupid power.

I drove z71s for along time and looked at new trucks for about 2 years before I bought this one. The power and room is what sold it for me. The gm's felt sluggish. When I level mine I'm gonna put some 295 nittos on it.

i've never hooked to anything my tacoma wouldn't pull but whatever you pull will be at around 10 mpg. i'm not stupid about it either though, i haul my 18 ft g3 the most. i believe that if i knew without a doubt that i could get the longevity, and high resale value out of a ford like i do a toyota then i would go ford all day. all in all the f 150 gets about the same gas mileage as a tacoma except when you're towing(ford gets much better mileage towing) and has a bigger bed and cab but the toyota is usually trouble free and holds it's value. i'm about to have to change the front driver side wheel bearing on my tacoma but at 181,000 miles, that and a u-joint will be the only repairs i've had to do to it.

I bought a 2016 tacoma and kept it for less than a year. In my opinion they're not the trucks that the previous Tacomas have been. No where near the power as the 4.0.

Good luck on finding a low miles 5 year old truck. The Toyota will out last the Ford on miles and resale. The new Tacoma's have plenty of room for us 6' + people. That being said if you plan on hauling heavy loads like tractors on a trailer then the full size would be better. Otherwise as a previous owner of 4 Toyota trucks I would get the Tacoma In a 6cyl only. In 2016 they started offering the v6 in a 278hp version.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts,hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Apples and oranges. I have had both. If you have kids (as said above) get a full size truck (I.e. a Tundra). If you don’t and are not a big guy go Tacoma. Anything pre-2016
