Just a little change of pace, but I was squirrel hunting some public land here in tn a couple of months ago. 700 acres of steep hills. We reached the top and heard some barking. Looked over and saw a puppy by a HUGE fallen oak. We watched as 3 more pups came out of the hole, formed by the rootball of the tree, followed by a huge pit bull. It muffled a few times at my buddy and I and then they all ran off. It's was crazy, a dang wild pit with pups living in a hole!

It ain't bad enough that we have to be on the lookout for the cald, and snakes when tramplin around in the woods, not we've got wild PIT BULLS...

A homosexual that has a lot of experience being a homosexual will tell you it's perfectly ok to be that way too. I would still argue that it isn't. It all boils down to what each side of the argument likes. But you wouldn't base your opinion of not being homo on a newspaper article, right? Nor would I base my opinion on what you say. Why? Because you are obviously passionate about this subject, therefore extremely biased. I'm not saying that to be insulting, just stating the obvious based on how defensive you get. My point is, no one is going to change anyone else's opinion about something they love.

Don't own one, never have owned one, never will own one, don't want one around me and if you live near me and have one you had best keep it on your own property.
I don't have a good opinion of them at all and I ain't interested in anyone here trying to change my opinion.

If you lived close by you had better keep it on your own land. There have been 3 that got on my land in the past 5 or so years and they didn't go home.

Personally, I don’t want any dog we have to have this discussion about. They didn’t get a bad reputation out of the blue and yes, I can also understand much of the problem is the owner. Regardless, the end result is those that are dangerous are dangerous. I couldn’t care less if it’s the owners fault or not. If it’s a dangerous pit bull, it doesn’t really matter.

https://www.friedlrichardson.com/dog-attacks-by-breed/ I own 3 and they will bite your ass if you walk into my house univited ive taught them to, best alarm system ever that being said outside my home theyll play with any other dog that decides to come wandering thru the woods but they will fight from time to time usually when a bitch is in heat . if you have a pitbull own a break stick and keep it close and know how to use it because when they lock down on something they lock down on it you literally have to choke them unconscious or pry their jaws apart. pitbulls are game animals they have a drive to kill things for sport namely other dogs and animals. but they were put down if they showed human aggression in any form back in the days when a handler had to break them up if one got bit it was a dead dog that bred human loyalty. its to bad some thugs always seem to exploit that loyalty in them and turn them into viscous animals. thats what i think is responsible for 90% of the attack someone want a "badass" dog they keep him chained up and abused and praise him when he shows violent tendencies one day he gets out and bites someone. its more the owner than the dog give me a labrador puppy for about 6 or 8 months ill show you the first attack lab youve ever seen if i wanted to train it that way

My point is, no one is going to change anyone else's opinion about something they love. i only echo what the professionals say. I suggest folks do like myself and research for themselves. Take for instance the article sbs posted that'll i'll link below. Conclusions—Although fatal attacks on humans appear to be a breed-specific problem (pit bull-type dogs and Rottweilers), other breeds may bite and cause fatalities at higher rates. Because of difficulties inherent in determining a dog’s breed with certainty, enforcement of breed-specific ordinances raises constitutional and practical issues. Fatal attacks represent a small proportion of dog bite injuries to humans and, therefore, should not be the primary factor driving public policy concerning dangerous dogs. Many practical alternatives to breed-specific ordinances exist and hold promise for prevention of dog bites. the whole article is intresting to me, i took this excert because most folks wont read it.

gkelly this is from same articl and reinforces what you just posted.
Another concern is that a ban on a specific breed might cause people who want a dangerous dog to simply turn to another breed for the same qualities they sought in the original dog (eg, large size, aggression easily fostered). Breed-specific legislation does not address the fact that a dog of any breed can become dangerous when bred or trained to be aggressive. From a scientific point of view, we are unaware of any formal 840 Vet Med Today: Special Report JAVMA, Vol 217, No. 6, September 15, 2000 evaluation of the effectiveness of breed-specific legislation in preventing fatal or nonfatal dog bites.

on another note anyone on here posting that you killed someones bulldog just because it was walking across your property you wouldnt have a living animal left on your property after i got done horse, cow, chicken, dog, cat whatever i could get to would be the worst mistake you ever made. shooting a dog for no reason is some asshole chit to do and i promise i can be a bigger MthrFer than anyone ever dreamed. my neighbors dogs get on my property all the time that dont mean i can just go out back and shoot em for no reason.

There is absolutely no point in banning them. Good pit owners shouldn’t be punished regardless of my own opinions of the breed.
