Well, I'm here. Had planned on going to a spot that look good on the map in the national forest, but the road leading to it is flooded, so I just had to turn down a road and hope one strikes up.

I took this morning to sleep in. Wide awake at 6 but it feels good to rest. But you don't turkey hunt! I read it on aldeer, so it has to be true.  I'm glad I retired too. I'm too old and decrepit to be chasing turkeys. You guys have fun

Nothing here. It was about as perfect a morning as you could ask for and I figured they would gobble good after yesterday's storms, but nope.

I typically don't hunt if it's raining hard at daylight. You think they gobble on the roost in a pretty heavy rain at daylight? Light rain?

Rain is finally letting up here. I had planned on being in the woods as soon as it stopped but I just don't feel like stopping in the mud today.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

I typically don't hunt if it's raining hard at daylight. You think they gobble on the roost in a pretty heavy rain at daylight? Light rain? Last weekend my dad and I enjoyed our coffee at the camp house during the early morning rain. Hit the woods about 7:45, went to an area we had been hearing a couple birds in some open select cut pines. I gave a short series of yelps and a gobbler cut me off. We sat silent for 20 minutes and 2 gobblers came searching for us through the pines. Only one left. He was wet and ugly, but it was a great hunt to share with my dad.
