Injuries were reported after an Amtrak train derailed Monday morning in Washington state outside of Tacoma, causing at least one train car to fall off an overpass and onto an interstate highway, officials said. Amtrak train 501 was traveling southbound from Seattle when it derailed along Interstate 5 about 7:30 a.m. "Injuries and casualties were reported," Pierce County Sheriff's Office said, though it's unclear how many people that included. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/12/18/amt...terstate-5.html

wonder what caused it??
An Amtrak train hit an empty logging truck below my house in Hale Co, that was a damn mess. RR inspector told me the trains don't go over 70mph, I told him I clocked one at 90 mph the week before.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

If it was the same one, Stewart made the national news!  I remember hearing sirens coming from everywhere and had to go and figure out what was going on!

that was the one. That unmarked crossing at Stewart prolly had two train/car wrecks a year.

They said that one was going about 82 mph, in a curve. I thought I saw it was supposed to be a high-speed train, but no idea if 82 mph through a curve is too fast. Last I heard it may have hit a truck that was on the tracks.

So it was the first trip. The track was not rated for the speed. The mayor of the town had already got with Amtrak due to safety concerns. This may not end well for Amtrak. In a couple of years from now people will be asking "What's an Amtrack?"

So recently in the USA we have had a weeks-long surveillance and attack with a truck being driven into a sidewalk area in NYC, and then today we have the aftereffects of a 'fire' that shut down the world's busiest airport for about 14 hours, a passenger train that derails on its inaugural trip, and an attempted attack on an AFB in England.
I try to not be a tinfoil hat guy but this has me considering putting the Reynolds Wrap on the counter.
