What makes it worse is when you have to turn down overtime to get in your workdays, and over half the people at the "work" days bring there four wheelers to ride there lazy Butts around and not do crap all day.

Typical hunting club, like churches, 20% of the people do 80% of the work...

They may be lazy...or they may have other things going on. This is one of the reason I have reservations about getting in another club. Ive got a 4yo and 6yo. May-late Sept/early Oct is our busiest time of year as a family. Between volunteering to help with tuff at church, kids activities and trying to take them to see grandparents in another state periodically, it's a struggle to try to make time for everything. The club I'm in now has had "work days" 3 out of 4 Saturdays since june....I just can't do that. Ive managed to make about half of them but its a struggle. Things slow down quite a bit by mid/late Oct, but then you're "that guy" who "suddenly has free time".

Yeah, these things can be avoided.

The sad part is, is that it has to be a rule. Should be common flippin sense. This is reason number 4537 why Im not ina club any longer.
And hes gonna keep doing it because nobody snatched him and his hopeless kid up by their collar and moved them to the back of the line.....or their vehicle and told them to get to work. See them next week.

Yeah that would go over real well.

You know, youre right. It would cause controversy and probably a scene, so lets just not do chit and let him continue to suckle from the titty.

With this type of hunter paying his dues each year will that not help you suck easier from the tit? If he didn't break a written rule then I see no grounds. Common courtesy would be to help but not everyone is courteous.

Everyone pays dues. Not everyone works. That's the point. I'm glad the kids can get an early start but some take advantage.

Dont think paying dues like everyone else is sucking from the tit??
It kind of sounds like you are one of these guys, Jared.
Not doing a bit of work and waltzing your fat arse up to the sign out board first is what I would consider inconsiderate, lousy, lazy, wanting something for nothing, etc.
Kind of sounds like the newest generations, huh? Well, I wonder why theyre this way???

We've always believed in minimal rules, never had problems. Just got a couple of new members that think they don't have to work

He probably has deep pockets and dont care. Work is beneath him. I always felt it was a hunters responsibility to work the land. Isnt that part of being a club.

All you guys that like to do all that work in these clubs wouldn't like to be in a club with me. Y'all would be very disappointed when y'all drive up to work and it's already done. I love working in the woods and food plots(the farmer in me) and if somebody else does it that's less that I can do and I don't like that. Most of my guys know they will never get a call from me about working at the camp. If they want to come help they better call and ask when I'm going. It's just how I am and I guess I will always be and they all know it. They all help in one way or another and are always ready if I need. We are all good friends and most have jobs where they don't have much free time and I don't blame them for staying with the family when they have a little time. It all boils down to if I'm doing it all, it all get done the way I want and I know it will all be ready for the season. They are all good with that.

There are pros and cons to being only member of your club.

Every club thread makes me more understand the pros outweigh the cons

Make a rule where if you miss a work assignment its a certain $ fine PLUS loss of the first week of gun season. Miss a second work assignment, its 2X $ fine plus loss of hunting during the prime rut week. I bet you have very few people not pulling their load after that.

I'm kidding about it, dude. But why wouldn't you ask the guy about it? It seems like a fair question.

Besides, you asked... thumbup

I solved this problem 3 of us leased 900 acres so us three do all the work and all the hunting. The last club I was in had work days when we would plant. And a list of stuff that needed done and you could do your work days anytime from about June untill season started and just do something fom the list. Seem to work pretty good.

I learned along time ago clubs are not for me. I improved my 200 acres and leased 250 from my neighbor and never looked back. That was 10 years ago.

I said I would. I haven't been down there.... I have girls that don't hunt. Another member called biatching about it to me, cause the Pres won't do anything. Anyway, he was back this afternoon in another prime location. I'll confront him, I've only met him once. He was too busy to help work, but not busy enough that he couldn't ride his fat arse around the property on a buggy
