Have y'all ever heard of this type rule ? I sure was hoping to bring the pup and she is a retrieving machine

Maybe they've had a bad experience with folks bringing untrained, unruly dogs.

I had a dog that was a natural with very little training that I couldn't take to a big shoot because I never could make her understand that when she saw a bird fall, it wasn't always mine and if I did shoot, she was headed out into the field looking for the dead bird. I only hunted her when I had a little spot that either myself or a couple of buddies hunted. If I really wanted to I could have made her a great dog, but I didn't have time and she was the family pet. I could see some people viewing a big hunt as a time to "train" their dog. Some people are just inconsiderate that way.

Outback... Figured as such and just as in real life w humans, one bad apple can ruin it for the rest. Just hate it that my hunting buddy who is really good in the field can't be a part of it... May just have to boycott this one ! (g)

I have never been on one that flat out banned dogs, but I will say I somewhat understand.

The guys who work their dogs and have them trained are no trouble and are an asset, but the majority of dogs that show up are a pain in the butt and cause aggravation for everybody on the field. I'm talking about the guy who bought a lab, or whatever pup, to make a bird dog out of and threw the tennis ball for it for a week or two in the backyard and thinks his dog will magically be a field dog. All these dogs wind up doing is turning birds, and taking your birds back to their owner or eating them.

Yes, and I've been asked to leave a dove hunt because of my dog. I was set up right next to a cotton field and every time one would go down in the cotton my dog would run all through it knocking down cotton left and right. Luckily it was a buddy of mines farm and it wasn't a big deal, but I could see crop damage be a good reason not to have dogs on the field

Dang. A dog can find them when they fall in tall stuff and we would never find it.

A well trained dog is as an asset in the field.
Unfortunately most folks tend to bring poorly trained family pets, being a nusience in the field.

Perxactly. Just another indication of our society. Rude and inconsiderate of others way too often. It's a me, me, me world.

Maybe make the poorly trained ones stay on a leash?

Thanks to all for input and opinions. It certainly has me being thankful for past and future hunting opportunities. I have never thought about the downside of others ruining a hunt with untrained dogs.

I've gone duck hunting a couple times when I was the host and guys wanted to bring their dogs. The dog was always a retrieving machine when they talked it up ahead of time.
Those dogs wouldn't chase a biscuit you threw in the yard. It was a hoot between what was said and what was reality.
It pisses some guys off. Never really bugged me. Just made me laugh. But I've seen not-so-good dogs cause friction in duck blinds.

And they don't get up to take them out until they quit crying. This is the epitome of inconsiderate. Yes, my wife and I have gotten up from a table plenty of times to take a child outside or to the car for a few minutes many a time. I know all babies cry, but that doesn't mean everyone wants to listen to yours.

You found out they don't allow dogs and you made the executive decision to take yours anyway. People like you are probably the reason They have the rule. Smdh

Me personally I'd love to have a good dog on every hunt I go on.

For real. Your dog might be the dove dog gold medal winner, but if the rules are NO DOGS, then don't bring your dog. That's just inconsiderate IMO

Leash him and tell them it's your service dog.
